feminists must acknowledge race.

where the common transfeminist fails is the lack of intersectional analysis, but where the feminist fails is the ignorance to how much gender is connected to - and outright built from - race.

now the transfeminist, with her basic understanding of the two axis of intersecting oppression; trans/cis and woman/man, may have no trouble in understanding how gender, race, sex, class, and disability may all factor into how a trans person is defined in a patriarchal society. she relies on these basic thought processes not because she can think no more but because this is how it feels for her to be subjugated. because she is a woman and because she is trans, she is subject to transphobia and misogyny. this is why she created the TME/TMA dichotomy. she may admit that the trans man who is non-white, disabled, or in a lower class than her is going to face worse judgements, but only because this trans man is faced with other intersections that cross with his ability to experience targeted transphobia, not because he is a man. this, is the lack of intersectional analysis. the transfeminist does not rely on intersection, she relies on a two-point axis that disqualifies any other intersection besides sex (trans/cis) and gender (man/woman), and said two-point axis is binary and fails to account for those historically included in feminist theory as of late such as nonbinary and trans-gender expansive peoples.

but oh, the feminist. while we can chop up this behavior to belonging solely to second-wave feminism, we have found that third-wave and fourth-wave see the same ignorance towards race and its child, gender (and sex.) feminists of color not only fought to reserve themselves space here, they have devoted their lives to getting equal rights akin to the white woman. Judith Butler's Gender Trouble: Feminism and the Subversion of Identity was written around the time third-wave was rising, and in its popular definition of gender as a performance, the performance that it was had not been stated. the third-wave, as well as the fourth-wave, of feminism lacked a proper goal and instead used stepping stones of hot-topics to garner the ability to speak over groups. its cool for someone to be anti-racist until they have to stop making jokes at the expense of the black man's "hood" attire.

we may hear about how much the Liberal, Radical, or Marxist feminist of now cares about the black woman's class struggle, but the third-wave has died and the fourth-wave heavily relies on technology and the empowerment of women through said tech - leaving marginalized groups who cannot safely afford or participate in this feminism, alone. much of this results in why we have feminists online who don't have cohesive tenants for their feminism and why it always lacks a unified goal of accomplishments. first and second-wave got something done not because they were "anti-woke," but because they attacked the right issues.

if our current waves of feminism in the Americas and elsewhere wish to tackle the rights for women and marginalized people, they must analyze the distinct offspring of racism, which is that gender and sex as material, immutable, and biological. feminists must recognize that their definition of gender lacks an important reference to the racial performance of each gender in each culture. feminists must acknowledge that the waves of feminism do not happen within the same time-frame, that feminists in other countries will receive lesser benefits in relation to the Americas and that our freedom is not whole until their freedom is achieved. feminists must acknowledge that individualism and empowerment are important, but are not legal, physical, and everyday rebellions that apprehend the patriarchal system's functions. feminists must acknowledge their ability to not only be pro-racism, but pro-patriarchal when it benefits their movement.
