However, much of the credit goes back to his friend Max Brod, who betrayed Kafka’s will by publishing his great works. Kafka deeply hated himself, constantly belittled his abilities, and despised his literary works. He considered them artistically incomplete and far from perfection. These behaviors were the result of his poor psychological state, as he suffered from anxiety, depression, and self-hatred .
