As someone with clinical insomnia and chronic night terrors, I often find myself having intense dreams that, usually, I'm able to remember quite well. I won't always remember every little detail, or every turn of events, but the general gist of things stays fresh in my memory.
But last night was different.
I went to bed sometime around 1:30am, as per usual. The room was the same as it always was, my pajamas were just as cozy, and my water bottle still half full. But then: nothing. I woke up. No memory of the dream or the events, or the monster or the plot. But strangely, the first thing I did was gasp, and stare down at my hands, trembling. Very odd. It was still dark outside. I checked the clock; 4:00am.Quite quickly afterword I realized I was starving, and went to grab a small pack of crackers, to which I (obviously), ate. Then went back to bed.
I woke again.
This time it was bright outside, around 8:00am. Again, no recolection of the events I was dreaming. However, one detail freaked me out (a lottt), hence why I'm writing this. My desk light was on. Not the main light I use, not even my primary mood light. I know for a fact, I did not touch that thing last night. I know that I never left the room. I know that when I woke to my hands trembling, I felt like I wasn't real. But not one single memory of turning that lamp on or the nightmares I was trapped in.
Could it be possible that I woke again, a second time, and have no memory of it? And if so, what was doing that required light. Surely it must have been important enough to recall. But I can't. Not a single detail.
As always,
I am not crazy.
But this did actaully happen, and I wanted to share lol. Thanks for reading.
