What I've Been Up To + New Years Resolutions

Hi everyone! It's been a while since my last blog post. I hope you've all had a lovely holiday.

For the past couple of weeks I've been staying at Mike's house (Mike is my boyfriend. We've been together since 2016.) We are in a long distance relationship (LDR) so it's always nice for us to spend time together in person. We got to spend the holidays together in-person for the first time and it was a lot of fun ^w^ Soon we'll be spending our first New Years together in-person as well. How exciting!

With 2022 coming up, I think it's about time to go over some of my New Years Resolutions

The first one I have in mind will depend heavily on the outcome of my recent apartment application process. Indeed, I have a chance to have my very own apartment unit. I am not 100% confirmed just yet but the outcome is looking to be in my favor. Having a place of my own would be a great thing for me, especially because I just recently moved out of a toxic home environment.

If I am approved for the apartment, I will do everything I can to ensure that my living environment is a happy and healthy one. I will decorate in a way that makes me happy. Of course, being able to maintain this lifestyle will require lots of hard work on my end. I will do what I can to really promote myself and my art since freelancing is my only source of income. Wish me luck!

Speaking of art, I really want to branch out and start selling physical merchandise (both online and in-person via conventions/fairs.) Technically, I've sold merchandise online before, though it's been a while since the last time I did so. While commissions/general freelancing has been fairly consistent, I think offering physical merchandise would be another good way to promote, connect, and share my work with others. Plus, it'd be fun!

The last one I've mentioned before in a previous blog entry. I'd like to try to open up and be more social, while still setting healthy boundaries, both on and offline. I think I've already made some progress with this goal since I started using SpaceHey ^_^ I've commented on bulletins and even posted and replied to people in the forums. That may seem like a no biggie to most. However, this is a big step for me especially with how shy I am and how reclusive I had a tendency to be.

Within the past few years I've parted ways with some unhealthy people. Heck, just a few weeks ago I had a falling out with the family member I was living with in my previous toxic home environment. Interactions/relationships like these make me want to seclude myself so that I don't have to get hurt anymore. However, I know that despite the handful of toxic people that are out there, there are also many good and kind people as well that I know or have yet to meet. Therefore, I just need to find a balance between being open while still remaining cautious. Easier said than done -w- but I'm trying.

I think that's about the resolutions I have in mind. I really hope 2022 brings us some much-needed positivity, both in our own personal lives and the general state of the world.
