For my collage final, I have to submit a 1st sequence of a film script that is at least 10 pages. I ended up with 15 and because it's 15 pages, it can be eligible to be submitted to a film festival. So, What I ended up with was a short story about a 19th century gunslinger in a fantasy setting. I find It very sweet and I'm very exited to hopefully have it made into a short film.
The story goes like this;
Opening: A gunslinger is struct by an arrow. Running away he falls down a mountain. He follows a creek to a lake where he sets camp alone. As he cleans himself he comes face to face with a mysterious young woman who posses strange powers. He attempts to kill her but fails. She gracefully observes him. Curious he asks her why she's sparing him. she asks who he is and he tells her his name is Law. She introduces herself as Viviane. Law tries to keep himself distant but the pain of the arrow is overpowering. Viviane offers to help but Law swipes her away out of anger. So she returns to the lake.
Second scene: Later, Law makes a campfire by the lake. Viviane is still surveilling him. Law sees her and asks his previous question once more. She ignored his question and tells him how she doesn't get many visitors, as if this lake is separated from most and appears to few. She asks why he ran, he saids she reminds him of some beast. she asks if he's afraid, why stay? He snaps to her that he is not afraid and he is a man who is never needed, so why go anywhere? They sit in silence from each other. Viviane makes a comment about the fire. Law asks why she's trying to talk to him. she tells him if he compares himself to an ant. He states that he is more of a stray dog. she tells him, he would be a really hairy dog.
Third scene: Later in the night, Viviane brings him a fish. law asks if it's cruel to eat a fish as it's like eating her children or something. She says no how they are more of fruits. yes she loves them but if she loved them like children she would be in an endless mourn. she tells him how would a wheat farmer feel seeing his crops be turned to flour and baked to bread. Then, how would that farmer feel to see their crop turn to mold and rot in vain. Law ask's if she's ever met a wheat farmer. she says yes. Law tells her it's impossible, beyond the mountains are empty forests and dirt plains for miles. Confused he asks where they are exactly. she says the lake is nowhere and everywhere, but assures him once he leaves hell find himself where he needs to be. she then asks about his family. law tells her he doesn't really have one. She is dissatisfied. Noticing her pout, he tells her the time he made a family of his own. Married a beautiful woman and adopted the woman's daughter. Law tells Viviane how she looks just like the daughter. he then tells her the time he took a nasty job and his wife left him, taking the daughter. He talks about how he learned the woman got sick and died and the daughter became a school teacher, got married and had a happy ending. He doubts he would have one of his own, as he's just a drifter now. Viviane lays next to Law as he spills his regrets, watching the fires embers blend with the starry night. Viviane then stands and walks back into the water. Law whispers to himself, maybe praying, or singing.
Ending: In the morning Law wakes up coughing out water, as he is soaking wet from head to toe. He stands, freaked out. He noticed his leg. Arrow is gone and his flesh is healed. He looks to the lake and sees Viviane holding a sword in the shallow lake. Law walks into the lake, standing face to face once again with Viviane. She presents the sword to Law, blessing the sword and asks for a promise to never part from the blade, or he would truly be lost. law bows, taking the sword. He unsheathes the blade and notices how it glimmers like water. Law then promises to never part from the sword, even in his demise. Viviane nods her head. Law nods back and returns to shore. He packs up his belongings and waves to Viviane. Viviane returns the favor gracefully. Law then marches into the woods with purpose. Viviane, in her head, wishes Law a safe journey. the last thing we see is law standing in the woods and on the sheath of the sword is a little braided charm of Viviane's hair. THE END.
Thank u so much for reading all the way through.
Don't be afraid to ask questions. :)

i think this is really cool, the metaphor about not mourning fish like children but appreciating them as a part of the cycle of life and more like fruit was especially interesting!!
plus the whole vibe of magical realism is cool to read and captivating.
