So I tried to use arch linux..

For a long time, I have noticed that windows has been getting worse and worse, but given that I have recently made the switch from my old laptop to a new and way better pc, performance stopped being a problem, so I just put up with all the shit from windows and kept going. But the started adding more and more ai slop that nobody asked for, which I didn't like cuz I really hate ai (generative, the rest is cool). I put up with it.

They started spying my screen without permission, that was where I cut the line. I decided that I wanted to switch to linux, and for the next 2-3 months I started researching linux, how it works, how games and apps work on it, etc.

Yesterday, I got all of my important files from windows in a 128gb stick that I somehow found laying around, and today I put arch linux on another stick, got ready to boot to it, turned off secure booting from the BIOS because linux don't like that, and got ready to see the terminal and work with it for like 3 days or way more idk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It didn't boot the first time. Fine. Got around and thought I fixed it. Didn't work. So I started looking around the BIOS, got to the advanced tab and realised that I could overclock my dram from 5600mhz all the way up to 13333mhz..

So I activated that, and my monitor stopped recieving signal, even my mouse got turned off because the pc wasn't sending it any electricity. When I hit the restart button the light from the powerbutton stopped for half a second and started bleeping again, so I held down the power button.

When I turned it back on, it showed me a screen that I have never seen before, even on the internet. Now my friend who was on a vc with me said that he'd seen that before and it wasn't that bad. I had the very big heading of "ami", all in lowercase, and the screen pretty much said that my pc has shut down after saving the settings in BIOS, either because the system was overworked or something like that, or because I might've held down the powerbutton after saving the settings (try to guess which one it was).

So by the I have already given up on linux because I thought that I fucked up my ram, and I didn't want to spent 400$ on some new ram sticks. And after reading the whole text of the screen and realising that I could go back to the BIOS, I changed the dram frequency from 13333mhz to 5800mhz, even tho my default was 5600mhz, because I wanted to see if I could overclock it even a tidy tiny bit, and it worked!!

So after that and some other cpu performance settings, I went to the only valid cpu benchmark, singleplayer minecraft! And I have some great benchmarks to show y'all: constantly above 60 fps with a renderdistance of 64 chuncks and a shader while flying in creative and loading the new chunks.

But if you have read all of this, you might've come to wander, why in the world I've put arch linux in the name of this vlog, and the reason is actually three reasons:

  1. This is where it all started, and I wanted to share my thoughts on windows and linux as a whole, altthough I didn't really get to share my positive thoughts towards linux;
  2. I wanted to get people who use arch, or just linux in general to talk to me and maybe help me figure out what I did wrong;
  3. I really wanted to make a list, so this is the third reason.

Well thank you for reading this, and in case I won't see you:
Good evening, good afternoon and good night!
God bless y'all <3
