Not the usual normies

There's this strange social script where people hunt for "similar interests" like they’re doing some compatibility test, then quietly push away anyone whose taste doesn't fit their carefully curated little playlist. Fine, whatever, everyone filters. But then you finally meet someone who’s supposedly into the same things you are, and all they do is throw around trendy words like they’re speedrunning a BuzzFeed personality quiz..."I like movies/ I like art/ I like poetry" And that’s it. No scenes that messed them up for days, no poem lines they obsess over, nothing that actually shows this stuff lives inside them, just hobby labels they slap on so they can toss you into their "same interests" jar and feel like destiny did them a favor (THAT'S NOT A CONNECTION)

People who really crave deep conversations don’t just name-drop what they like, they tear it apart, question it, let it scramble their worldview a bit//they ask you things that feel like they’re debugging your soul, not just looping "so what music do you listen to?" for the fiftieth time

And every time this topic comes up, there is this second-hand cringe that crawls up my spine, like I am glitching between wanting genuine connection and feeling totally allergic to the way people role-play it online

Especially because of the obsession with aesthetics and categories that many people have. It's not about having real friends; it's about having a group of accessories that match your vibe so you can feel cooler.
