Okay so as explained in my previous entry, I have been seeing weekly movies with my dad because we have a subscription with a theater near us. We have been ranking each movie in our tier list (tier list further explained in previous entry) and I have decided to upload my ranking and review of each movie on spacehey! Since we started many months ago and we weren't able to see a movie this week due to weather, I am taking this time to catch up on ALL the movies we have seen this year and update our full ranking---- there are three movies we saw before we got the subscription, so that is where I am starting!
Week 0 (pt 1/3) 6/29/2025 -- 28 Years Later
So, this movie is a zombie movie that is actually third in a franchise, but is stand alone and doesn't need the knowledge of the first two. My dad had seen the first one but I hadn't.
This movie was super unique for a zombie movie, and I really enjoyed it-- I thought the camera work was super great, and they were able to have tense scenes while still having many moments of depth and calmness. It also allowed you to get connected to the characters, which doesn't happen in most horror/zombie films. I think this movie was objectively very good, but it isn't my personal style of movie, but I still had an AMAZING time and would totally rewatch, and I am SUPER excited for the next one which I believe comes out sometime next year?
^^^I also thought it was interesting because it had great action scenes, but overall I WOULDN'T call it an action movie. It had really interesting spiritual and death themes, and was honestly emotionally and visually beautiful!!
I would totally recommend this, with TW for some violence and some nudity, but neither are to an uncomfortable degree- the violence is just normal zombie movie action and the nudity is just the zombies being naked but it's honestly more comedic than uncomfortable.
I put this movie in the S category, because I just don't think it stands out enough and I personally just didn't find it to be SS worthy, but that could just be opinion because my dad said it might be his favorite out of all we've seen, and he DID put it in SS. He also cried at the theater watching it.
