“But money is the key to happiness.” So is listening to music and creating art. I’m not saying everyone who doesn’t have a job or dropped out of school or college is a loser (I myself dropped out), but everyone's definition is different. Someone who makes indie video games could be considered a loser because the sales aren’t good. As well as the man who plays violin on the street for tips. Here are some examples of “losers” you may know.

That streamer or youtuber you watch

Small streamers make anywhere from 50 to 200 bucks a month, and they do it simply because they enjoy it. Or at least most do, but there are 91,171 channels on twitch and only half most likely make enough money to pay bills. There are 115 million channels on youtube, and only 70,000 of them have over a million subscribers. The ones with over a million didn’t always have the million, but they stuck with it because they LIKED it and it made them happy.

The AO3/Wattpad Writer You Like

Remember who also liked your fandom so much that they indulged in writing that one yaoi or yuri fic you didn’t think anyone else liked. Fluff, angst, enemies to lovers. Do you think they were focused on success and wealth when they uploaded their non-beta read fic for the world? No. It was purely for enjoyment. You’re probably thinking of a fic right now, and it has stayed in your mind because of how good it was. They may not get paid in the views, but it will stay in your mind forever.

Your favorite artist

I’m not talking about Lady Gaga or Korn, even though they were losers before fame. I’m talking about those artists you listen to with less than 200,000 streams a month. They continue making music because they find community in people that enjoy them, the money may help. However, for them to continue making music years even after they don’t reach a big fan base proves that it was never to hustle. It was never to make a bunch of money and become the next My Chemical Romance, and that is refreshing.

I’m not saying that all losers are secretly creative people that serve a purpose in this world. Some do just rely on their parents money and scroll on TikTok the whole day.  I have a sister that is in her 40s that hasn’t worked in 5 years because she relies on my mother to support her, but she also has severe mental illness. I’m just saying before you think that somebody is a loser, think about what other things they do besides work and earn money.
