does anyone have any less-common advice for finding abandoned places? my friend and i love to explore, but our area is VERY populated and ridden with construction sites that flock to abandoned places faster than crows over dead bodies. we're thinking of the train track method next; just walking along the tracks until we find something? how often does that work and how long do u usually have to walk?
i know driving is the simple option here, especially with my province having a lot of Ghost Towns further north, but both of us were late on that and can't for at least a year. i'm looking for more reliable advice that might get us somewhere. if you live in a major city and are able to find places, PLEASE tell me your ways

find some construction being in progress and check them in a few years XDDDDDD. seriously i found an abandoned unfinished construction in around 2015-2016??? and there was a group on the first floor with some kind of rifles practicing on targets or idk but it had no stairs to the second floor so i got over there through all the rocks and bricks it was pretty fun so yeah
that's a great idea actually omg. literally happened across the street from my house; just been sitting there for like 3 years. i'll start paying more attention to that thank you!

the thing about following traintracks is that there are probably already people there, people who just wanna take pics and shit and people who just wanna pass time, so it loses the abandoned aspect, buuut every city has an old mall that might not technically be abandoned but might as well be, try looking at older establishments near or in there •̀.̫•́✧
the half-abandoned malls is so true actually. i remember going to this mall with like 2 open stores one time. def a starting point, but still not quiiiite what i really want yk
