pearl 's analysis

i decided to start wrtiting analysis about steven universe character since it's my hyperfix and yeeeah here we start with a definitely mentally sane individual ; Pearl

Pearl is first introduced in well, the first ep of steven universe . She is one of steven's parental figure and one of the crystal gems. Her weapon is a spear

Like real pearls, Pearl has multiple layers to her personality , the deeper the layer the nastier. Because Pearl has a lot to hide. She lied to her (almost) life-long friends for the love of her life. A never ending love even after death, betrayal and more. She saw Rose chose quite evryone before her and still she kept her secret, took care of her son, honored her memory. 

But Pearl has also a lot of character development . She went from barely looking in Steven's eyes to being this overprotective motherly figure we know , but isn'it it tied to the fear he might dissapear like Rose did, since he's the only remeberance she has of her? she stopped trying to keep him around at all costs when she realized he was NOT his mother and they are two entierly different human beings (in the future season) . She still loves him very deeply but in a far more normal way i believe. She went from hating Greg's guts and trying to scare him off until she really ended up liking him quite more "our greg is clearly the superior one" (S04E08) , She understood how it's not any of them's fault that Rose it's gone. In fact it's not anyone's , she wanted it and that's what she did.

We also see how what happenned with Rose affects her relationships. Pearl is very secretive maybe it is because she's a pearl, maybe it's because she was so close to Rose and she's traumatized by what happened
