december 2025
Note: This blog should look like this. If it's completely botched, that's because I used px instead of other units which would've made this layout compatible with different screen sizes and browsers, and called it a day. I might try to fix it, but not anytime soon.
This month's blog will be about my new year's resolutions. There's some news I'd like to share first.
I got a fish (probably a male, but idk for sure) and I named her Princess Tomato. I'm so nervous because I love Princess Tomato and I want to give her the best home ever.
Fish, for some reason, are considered starter pets. I never imagined them to be so high maintenance. The fact that Princess Tomato is completely dependent on me, scares me. I constantly have to maintain her water pH, temperature, and certain molecule levels in the water like nitrates and ammonia. An aquarium is a whole ecosystem with its live plants, algae, bacteria, and more. I'm not an expert and probably never will be, but it's fun learning more about it. I feel closer to Princess Tomato. I want to understand the daily struggles of a fish better.
I'll share more of Princess Tomato and her quarters soon. She doesn't really have much ''furniture'', only a shell big enough for her to hide in and a house made of coconut. Her other stuff is still in the mail. Once she's settled into her new home, she said she'll officially present herself to us common folk.

Now, moving on to my new year's resolutions. It's been a long time since I tried to make any.
I found my resolutions for 2022 on my iPad. They're so doable that they don't sound like resolutions at all, but more like a to-do list: getting new clothes, letting my hair grow, making objects out of clay, losing weight and more stuff like that. None of this sounds like real goals, and still, I couldn't complete them.
I'm very specific about what I want, and that's not new. The problem is, I've been hesitant to want better things for myself lately. I've also stopped wishing or hoping for things altogether. It's just better this way. So again this year, I won't set high standards for my resolutions.

My Resolutions!
getting a few more ear piercings- The healing process is so painful that I've been putting getting a new one off forever. I'll gather up my courage get one more sometime this year. I also want to get a conch on my other ear but that seems even scarier.
going on a beach vacation in summer- I've been missing the warm weather. I never make the most of it when it's there. It's been like, six years since I last swam so, I think I should take that vacation.
organizing my bag- I think I should just go get this done now. But let's say that I want to keep it organized throughout the year.
getting a necklace made of rhodonite- I don't really care about crystals and mystical stuff. I wanted to get one in 2022, so this is just a tribute to that.
learning more about marine life- I just want to be a great caretaker to Princess Tomato. The topic's intriguing as well.
having a concert diary- I've seen people do this. Now that I live in a bigger city, there are more activities to participate in. I already bought 2 concert tickets for 2026, and it's not even 2026 yet. It would've been 4, but Three Days Grace had to have their show on the most random day ever, and The Neighborhood is sold out already. (very important note!!!: Apparently one of the members of the Neighborhood is an abuser. I wasn't aware of this when I wrote this in December. I felt the need to add a note here.)
mood calendar- I started using the app ''dailybean'' again - turns out I also used it in 2024 for a brief time, I didn't really remember that. Anyways, I'll log my days to have a better chance at getting rid of the feeling of everyday feeling exactly the same.
walking more- It's been getting so dark so early in the day, also it's been so cold. I haven't been going on my silly walks, those used to help me when I got overwhelmed. I really should start again, cold weather or not.
getting my hands on a copy of The Marble Faun- I've been searching for this book... I really want to read it but I think it's never been translated into Turkish. There are only English versions available in some second-hand bookstores, and that's if I'm lucky. Now, I already have its PDF, but where's the fun in just getting it printed? I'll find it in 2026. Important note: Something tells me this book will suck so hard, and it will be 400 pages of torture. But I've already made up my mind.
having a friend to send a postcard next year in December (it has to be sent by mail)- Technology is great and all, but I like winter themed postcards with glitter more. I don't understand why we solely use text messages when we have an advanced postal system. Text messages are free and practical but sending cards on holidays is a cute tradition we need to bring back. Most people don't even bother to text, so this actually might be the most unrealistic resolution I've ever made.
There are more, but these are all I want to share. Except... I know I said I won't wish for things, that I'll be super realistic. I don't think it will be realized this year, or at all, but I really hope I can find the strength to face the things I have no control over.

With that said, this month's blog comes to an end. Happy new year.
