so...
on december 10th, the australian government instated a social media ban for under 16's, and whilst i am over 16, spacehey doesn't have the resources to put in place an age verification system, meaning they cannot comply with the ban. as a result, spacehey is no longer available in my country.
henceforth, i will not be able to use spacehey without a vpn, but since i already am pretty inactive on this account, i think it's just the time to leave completely.
i do not blame spacehey for anything, social media platforms that don't comply with the shoddily put together ban are fined up to $50 million, so it makes sense that spacehey would just cut their losses and block australians from accessing the platform all together.
i am going to miss spacehey, it was nice lurking on a platform with so many like-minded individuals, and i truly do love the customisability. this was my first experience with html, and i'm still super proud of my profile. i'd like to thank all of my moots, i know i didn't talk much (social anxiety somehow impacts me online too) but y'all were super cool and i wish the best to all of you.
as for what happens to this account, it is going to stay up for the time being (i can't bring myself to delete my profile yet lol). the social media ban is being brought to the high court for an appeal, so if all goes well spacehey might come back to australia. otherwise, this is the end. i am currently putting together a neocities site, and i also have a tumblr (literallyaplantt.tumblr.com), so you can find me there.
thanks for reading. ily
(also screw the government, this sad excuse of a "protect the children" campaign is so obviously an attempt at enforcing digital IDs and censoring information, especially about the genocide in palestine.)

Just do what we do in the UK. Use a VPN.
