A letter to my 16-year-old self

Wow … I know. Yes, I’m more than twice as old as you are now. A lot has happened. You can be excited… I guess ^^’

Do we still like the same music? Are we still listening to Gazette and An Cafe and Gackt and …?

Yes, we do. We neglected some artists for a while, but trust me, something was missing. Something was off. As if we weren’t ourselves, you know? Like we were pretending to be someone else to fit in. Our ego went downhill back then, and we didn’t have the strength to stand up for ourselves, for our taste, for our favorite stuff. Well, yeah, a little sad — but we got out of there and needed some time to process everything. I asked myself all the time why I had more guts as a teen and was braver. Shouldn’t it be the other way around?

But I guess we are back. You are back. And I really like that. The only sad part: I miss the people from your time. I wish I could talk with my friends about all the stuff that happened to our favorite musicians while we were becoming adults. Holy smokes, they are old now :D But still beautiful, and the music is even better. Gackt is getting kind of weird, though…

But yeah, I was never good at keeping in contact, sooo… ;_;

Are we still dressing the same way?

Yes and no. But I think you would be proud of your older self. Though it has to be a little toned down for work (I’m really testing the limits there, lol). But don’t be afraid — the least we are is boring xD

And I think my hair now is a lot cooler than yours back then u_û

I admire your DIY projects from that time, and I want to do more of that again. Like putting zippers and safety pins and buttons on everything. But it’s also quite nice to have adult money to buy nice clothes, so we don’t have to make everything DIY xD

So yeah… we don’t own anything from SEX POT REVENGE (yet), but ACDC Rag sold something quite similar!

Aaaand I got us a real Vivienne Westwood necklace - How cool is that? It kind of felt intimidating to go into one of the stores, but the experience was great! <3 And now I want more xD Maybe earrings next?

So you see, everything changed and nothing changed at all. I don’t even know if you wanted us to change or if you thought we would always stay the same? (nO mOM, iTs NoT a pHaSe)

Because I just rediscovered myself (you), I’m really excited to see in which direction my taste and style will evolve over the next years. Stay tuned ;D
