this is more of a rant, but i still think its important to say.
starting off with cleanliness. it is not hard to clean up after yourself and put things back. i will spend HOURS of my shift putting things away that people just left lying around. the store i work at isnt beg at all and it is not hard to put something back. its even worse when you get to the register to check out and you already know you dont want something and specifically hand me something that you shouldve put back yourself. this gets even worse when you apologize because i know youre not sorry. if you actually wer,e you wouldve put it back yourself.
also our bathrooms are employees only so dont use our bathroom and shit all over the floor and leave it. youre not a kid who stills poops their pants so grow the fuck up, clean up after yourself, and use a different bathroom.
next thing is politeness. my god the number of times ive been straight up insulted by grown adults is more than ive been bullied at high school. i dont make the prices, know what phone you have, know what your credit card pin is, and dont grant wishes like a fucking genie. if you dont like the prices of something, dont take out on me. if your wife is having a bad day and insulting me, dont defend her for insulting her back. btw i dont even insult customers, i just reply with the SAME energy, and then they get mad.
for example: for black friday we had a squishmellow deal that was 10 for $25. this woman was confused that a non-squishmellow wasnt a part of the deal. she said "but i found it in the same bin", so i said "and people like to move things around". she sighs and walks back to the bin to get another one. her husband that looks at me and says: "hey, dont talk back to her". im sorry but a grown woman should 1. speak for herself and 2. expect someone to respond the same way you did.
its really not that hard to be respectful and nice to people, while also respecting the store that they have to clean up.

I only work 3h a week (putting stuff into the shelf's) But god people are annoying. They pick something up and then instead of putting it back where they took it from (which btw is one row above from where they put it) they just put it where ever.
Like ??? Are you unable to place the damn thing back up there? You got it down from there, you can move it back up.
Or when they ask me to give them an item. Ok I'm fine helping them when the item is on the top row. BUT they ask for stuff that is in the row at hip height. And I am not even on that shelf. Like??? Lady, you CAN get that yourself.
Even worse, that like we have to be as fast as possible with putting the stuff away. While also make it look decent etc. And then some 40 year old woman can't be bothered to get the damn Item she wants.
FRRR everyone should work in retail or food service at least once in their life
