Progress on a solo developed webgame inspired platformer (not the best at namez srry :c)

i'd like to make it clear my writing skills are not the best as im quite tired T~T don't expect the next Harry Potter coming from me tonight XD

heyy! my name is maxwell and i've been working on a game inspired by Super Mario Bros Flash and other flash games and newgrounds stuff with some gameplay inspiration by Pizza Tower and Grace!! :3

i don't have much gameplay right now, but i've been having alot of fun making it and i just wanna talk about some of the stuff i've done so far

so first off, i obviously worked on movement first (because what's the point in a platformer if the control is mid XD), there's obviously alot of bugs because im one person and it's my new years resolution to make a game, first i'd like to get a demo out though before i invest any more time into this specific project

next i started designing the first level, Nightfall Beach :3 this level was a blast to make, there isn't one exclusive gimmick in this level, it's supposed to be more of a tutorial and show for what's to come

the second level is Fort. Freeze, it's a winter based fortress, this level has a unique gimmick, giant ice blocks you can smash through that take 2 hits to break but are generally optional and just give score, and smaller ice blocks that you can move, just like the marble blocks in Marble Zone of Sonic 1! these blocks are actually dragged with your mouse though! adding onto the sonic 1 inspiration, this course will lead you inside and deep into the fortress where you need to keep moving to avoid freezing! (this was inspired by Sonic 2 SMS remake actually!)

the third (and final level as of now, there will be more soon), is called Mushroom Falls, it's a forest full of giant mushrooms and flowers that will bounce you up and around the stage, this level's main gimmick is water sections that i personally really like! instead of slowing down to a snails pace like in Sonic or Mario, you're pushed along a current where you need to jump and duck into the water accordingly to avoid dying from thorns and tree roots! you can't just hide under water entirely though, Berry (the protag) has small lil lungs so they drown really fast

im probably gonna have to rework these levels when i rewrite the movement how it works T~T right now the movement feels odd imo lol
