Lets Talk about Liminal and weirdcore spaces.
For me Weirdcore and liminal spaces have always been my favorite type of core on the internet, Its what made me wanna pick up a camera and take photos of places i remembered from my childhood now abandon and left to slowly decay. Weirdcore in the other hand it calms me down in a way while also making me feel like i forgotten something in a way if that makes sense.
I want to see what everyone else thinks and also meet people who share the same interest in this and also just have a nice discussion on the topic.

there's honestly something so comforting about liminal spaces and weirdcore.
tbh though i think it's because of our memories. we remember major points of our childhood, but any minor details get abandoned. you can remember the room, the situation, the feel. but you likely won't remember the intricate details; so liminal spaces just feel like going back to those memories, as they lack the detail much like memory thus leading to the nostalgia.

I love liminal spaces and weirdcore. Liminal spaces gives me a sence of melancholy ease and clamness. But it also hurts me due to suffering from nostolgia. I tend to find myself longing for the times that were simple and I was innocent and didnt understand what horrors were happening in the world, but as life has it, we grow up and come to terms with our reality.
Weirdcore gives me a sence of confusion at times but also feels like im being understood. The dream like state is something I feel comfort in and understanding, yet there are hints of confusion at times. Like a dream, what are we to digest from certain images of weirdcore? But when I submit myself to the confusion I find myself fully understanding.
Love both of these things. The only issue I have with them is that I cant be in the liminal spaces or weirdcore worlds irl! Ugh what I would give to explore the backrooms.
Though that is also a lie, I find my town to be very very liminal when its night time and all are asleep. Actually, I am within the liminal spaces, and many of you are too. You just have to open your eyes to the world around you and think differently of what stands before you.

Liminal spaces do make me feel calm, but they care a sense of dread and anxiety that I don’t like to dwell on, so I say I’d prefer weirdcore.
Dreamcore is best tho XP!!

I used to be pretty into both quite a while back. Was also very obsessed with playing those weirdcore liminal space games on Roblox until at one point it felt like each one was pretty similar to each other.
Liminal spaces are cool but it feels very saturated today cuz you’ve seen most of the common images and people today for just some reason lack the understanding of what liminality means and how to capture that same eerie nostalgic feeling as some of the original old liminal space photos do
That's understandable and that's why I take photos of places near me

I had a phase when I was really interested in dreamcore and weirdcore and tbh I still am just not as much. I really like the fact that those photos can make you feel different feelings and a little bit of nostalgia since some of the photos you feel like you have seen before and you've been to those places which I find really intriguing and cool :3
Its like a glimpse into the past and it make people feel so many emotions, Also dreamcore is the best something about dreamscapes with a hint of surrealism i love :D

I'm currently trying to write a novel with a setting that gives the same vibe as this. And a while ago I found some old photos I took when I was ten of our old house right before we moved, when almost all the furniture was gone and the emptiness, nostalgia, and slightly blurry quality of the photos gave such a liminal space feeling to them years before I even knew about them, it's sick :3
That's sick and i hope the novel goes well, and i get that feeling of finding old photos of your childhood home its like when you find old VHS tapes and you rewatch the past its very pleasing but also warming in a way.

As I love surrealism deeply, weirdcore is something I really enjoy! My style of editing photos was close to it, even though now it is more similar to 'webcore' etc.
Webcore is another favorite of mine something about the older versions of the web gives a very nostalgic feel and also makes me miss the styles the browsers had back then.

Yes, I also hate the AI slop and how it is build for low-attention, so I prefer the older structure of web. I am also more used to older programs as I hate change, haha. So, that is somehow why I ended up on spachey and why I am learning to code a little bit, so I can make it all more 'user friendly' for myself.

Respect i actually got on spacehey because on day i was going on the wayback machine and i found my old myspace page. So this website brought back so much memories xD.

Haha, I never got to have a myspace profile sadly, as I didn't need to use Internet much until covid.

i don’t know much about it, but i did have a phase ^_^ i think it’s pretty cool how such photos/places can make you feel’
True i usually try to find photos of when the place was active and then take photos of spots and match it with the photos i took kind of like the mall near me that shut down, it had a 90s aesthetic but the place couldn't afford to stay running because no one was shopping there.
now its empty and abounded.
