I’m Sleepy.
All I want to do is rest.
Sorry, Momma. I’ve grown obsessed.
Will the angels let me sleep?
In peace, somehow, so you mustn’t weep.
Is it time to say goodnight?
I try to win, I try to fight.
But those damned monsters, it’ll seem–
That they become the worst of me.
Those monsters, they prick at my feet-
They hold me down so I can’t compete.
They call me names, they make me hurl
So why can’t I rest in bed and curl?
Unsure what to do tonight.
Might just sleep– pure out of spite.
It seems I may just finally rest,
Let me sleep,, the angels best.
I’m sorry, Momma. I had to go.
I’m so sleepy.
The theme of this poem might b a little obvious, but it's an allegory for suicide and suicidal thoughts. The narrator struggles thru a range of thoughts while contemplating committing their own suicide. Sleep representing death, monsters representing bad thoughts, or people who are discriminatory against said narrator. can yall tell the last, abrupt lines were inspired by Natsuki from DDLC?? greattt, greattt. I had gotten this idea when thinking back to the suicide note I wrote to my mother. I was conflicted as to why-- the reasons adding up so much. I remember telling her I was tired the night I planned to do it. The poem might sound a little corny, the writing amateur. It was meant to sound similar to my note, lols. I was only 11 when I wrote it, 14 now :). To everyone feeling a little sleepy, I hope you find space to heal. I can't tell you a reason to back out when I, myself, am still suffering. I hope you soon let all your little monsters go, and even if you don't, try anyway. Drink some water, eat, take your meds, and have a good day.ദ്ദി◝ ⩊ ◜)
