I think we have hit a new age... the Too Much Information Age. I remember a time (that makes me sound so damn old) when we didn't have to tell everyone all the details of our lives. We had friends that had different beliefs, both political and religious, but we showed them respect. I don't know if we lost the respect factor because you can't get a beating through the computer screen, but I am sure it is a factor. We also didn't have news coverage 100% of the time, with false information being injected into it all. I am not saying all of the news we hear is fake, but there is a huge percentage that is easily disproven.
Some can say that the rise of social media began this TMI Age, and I agree with it. Remember when we all jumped off of MySpace and logged into the new Facebook? Farming games, sharing food pictures and jokes, and generally it was pretty light-hearted. Now look at how it is: bullying, telling people to get lost if they don't believe the same way that you do, sharing A.I. generated videos and pictures (which if you think about it for a minute are also fake), and overall sharing stuff that is mindless garbage.
Put the mystery back in things folks.

I remember the time when it was just you, you with your problems, you with the people you loved... but now you're not the only person in your mind. You can feel like you know things about people you don't even know. Now there's so much noise, so much static... and things are becoming more and more superficial.
What I'm trying to say here is... I really miss Blockbuster.

true, and especially for kids. stop telling everybody every little fact about yourself down to your mental illnesses and triggers, there are too many preds online that WILL take advantage of that info. being mysterious online is more fun anyway
