My group presented our worldbuilding project today for school! It went okay, my presenting skills are subpar but I get up there and I do it nonetheless. As a brief overview, our society is a large group of warrior outcasts and exiles who have formed a home in a cold, harsh environment within a gigantic snake skeleton that gives magic to the environment. They value strength but all define strength differently. I created these animations to show a few things about the world.
These aren't necessarily complete, but I am treating them as "done" right now, because I need a fucking break and to work on my other project that's been neglected the last few days. I'm happy with how they are now, and I think they work well as concepts.
Animal: The Spiny-Scaled Casting Tardigrade
This is a tardigrade who interacts with magic in the environment and is transformed into a large, spined, magical version of itself. It wanders through the environment letting off magical energy which balances the levels of magic in the ecosystem and grants life to the land. It is an important omen, symbol of strength, or bringer of magic to our society, depending on who you ask.
Living Spaces
We created four different factions in our society, based on how they define strength. There's an offensive fighting group, a defensive group, a religious group, and a magical group. With this I tried to show how their culture and their faction play into the peoples daily lives and what their living spaces might look like.
1. The offensive fighter's home has an extravagant entryway, displaying their spoils, weapons and armor as a show of power right at the front of their home. Their faction crest is carved into their front door.
2. The defensive fighter has converted their shared bedroom into a training room. This person doesn't have a lot of space, but the important to their strength and defensive abilities is enough to warrant infringing on their personal space.
3. This religious dormitory has a large open window in the common room. They keep it open, with a table and dual candles in front, making sure that the snake skeleton and the twin moons of the world they worship are in view. This helps them center their faith in their daily lives at home.
4. This is a magical garden balcony. In a frigid climate, magic is often used both personally and on a large scale to grow plants, both cosmetic and to produce food.
