I personally think the afterlife or whatever the potato you want to call it is just plain pitch black nothingness. - your consciousness would linger in a void of darkness for the rest of eternity. That or the same, except you'd have no consciousness, which at least for me is absurd and very much impossible to think a lot about, as my mind is moving and thinking and not being quiet constantly lol.
In the end, though, I believe that all of these thoughts and opinions on what happens after death are just theories and nothing more. There's no (scientific) evidence of the afterlife, and I doubt there ever will be. It's something you'll see and understand when you die. And if you were to be brought back to life, I doubt you could truly comprehend it.

terrifyingly intangible -- there is a reason people made up religion to feel some sort of comfort. humans are self centred in their belief that they matter or that they have an inherent purpose in a spiritual sense. it's a shame because i think you gain a newfound sense of freedom from that realization--the realization that your actions truly do not have consequences in the grand scheme of things. some people care about memory and legacy, but even that will be forgotten. we will all be forgotten in this world and we do not know what happens after we die. that's okay. i think we just need to make our peace with it and enjoy the little life we have.
in other words: thinking about it will just stress you out. which will probably lead to you dying sooner. so don't think about it too much.

I've never really decided on a concrete opinion about the afterlife. I mostly just think of it with the "it i what it is" mindset. But it would be nice if we get to experience another life as someone else though, even though we probably wouldn't know about it.

I think we go back to the state we had before birth. But low-key think that maybe rebirth is a thing based on karma, would be cool at least.
I am not religious, but deep down, for all my past and future pets sake, I hope there's a heaven. And for all the fake christians that use the bible to spread hate, I very much hope there's a hell.
