finally got the chance to see the 2nd fnaf movie. i had heard mixed reviews on twt but everyone on twt is misreable so i tend not to take any opinions seriously there.
i actually iked it!! okay tbf it was mega cheesy at times, but this is a fuckin fnaf movie i wasnt expecting shakespeare level writing here. (esp from scott cawthon of all people LMAO)
a few things i did like? obviously the animatronics themselves. will always appreciate how theyre real legit costumes and not just sloppy CGI. also seeing mangle get thrown off a fucking car, thru a window, and right into toy freddys face is cool. anyone who says otherwise lacks the whimsy neccesary to find it enjoyable. i also liked how they gave toy chica a real personality. i feel like a lot of people who never really liked her before might find a newfound appreciation. that goes for all the toy animatronics i think too. iirc theyve never been a topic of positive discussion (design wise at least). hopefully this movie can change that since ive always LOVED their designs :)
even though scott changed the marionette, i thought it was well done design wise. i jumped a few times LMAO & it was def creepy enough for me.
also, the five nights at candys reference in the beginning of the film! its always nice that scott is aware of the fan works in the community. im vaguely aware of how he sponsored and funded some fan games i think (not sure if im remembering correctly). but its cool to see it in the movie :)
see now... notice how ive only complimented how the movie looks? im choosing not to talk about the story itself since scott has decided to take some.... creative liberties.
i have not read the books, nor will i ever read the books. im aware some of them tie into the games lore. scott is not a good storyteller lets just be real here. the fnaf lore spans so long and is so wide i feel like i could re-watch every GT video on the subject and still get something wrong.
it def feels like they tried to shove a LOT of plot points into this one film which made it feel very... cluttered. with baby appearing in vanessas dream, vanessa being left behind by mike (assuming this is for vanny), michael afton making an apperance, the marionette still being here. i have to assume this is, once again, a new storyline from the totally brilliant mind of scott cawthon.
what on earth is scott even planning on doing? correct me if im wrong, i need to refresh myself on FNAF lore. but i think the timeline of events in the games were:
SOTM > 4th game > 2nd game > 1st game > sister location > 3rd game > pizza sim > UCN > help wanted > SB
(havent played into the pit or SB ruin im so sorry)
its been YEARS since ive touched any of the OG games or watched any videos about a complete timeline so this is just from recent memory. im throwing any theories about where he will take these movies since he's obviously doing something different fron the games. it frustrates me slightly that such a well loved franchise with such a large fanbase gets a movie of this quality. i cant count the amount of videos i watched as a kid for theories about the newest game, updates from scotts website & game trailers. my best guess? he's starting a new timeline to give fans something to theorize about. at least springtrap will finally make an appearance in the next film. now THAT i will be seated for.
now, off topic from my likes and dislikes with this movie. its extremely impressive how a simple game like this can be turned into a MOVIE. like, is that not cool? even if the movie wasnt everything i wished it couldve been, its still so cool to see characters i adored as a kid on a movie theatre screen. its cool to see william afton of all people, the yellow rabbit, springtrap!! like come on!!! it gives me hope for future films for other games & future games to also get movies! the fact that the yellow rabbit is becoming some sort of staple horror icon along with freddy is just such a cool concept. something i couldnt have ever imagined as a kid.
also mathew lillard is the best guy to play william afton. i still stand by this opinion. he was awesome in scream and he was awesome in the first fnaf movie and this one. (even if he didnt get a lot of screentime). i just really like willaim afton, can you tell? lol
anyway my rant is over! thank yew for reading :) typed this super late and there may be some typos (so sorry)
