Last week a good friend and I went to Vermont to stay the week in nature and to take a break from the hustle and bustle of our respective lives. It was absolutely beautiful, but of course, I can't go anywhere without trying to hunt for the next best record. We stopped by 2 stores during our trip, one was just 30 mins away from the resort in New Hampshire, and the other was 3 1/2 hours in Montreal, Canada which I adore! My buddy had never been out of the country, so I decided to brave the mountains and snow and go to a record store there as well as visit a KBBQ place I had been craving for 2 years since the first time I visited the city.
ANYWAYS!! Here's what I got.
New Hampshire:
- 2 Rolling Stones Magazines from 1981 & 1982 and a Copy of...
- XTC's "English Settlement"! (It's an original US pressing too. )
Montreal:
- The Hollies' "Stop! Stop! Stop!" (A.K.A. "For Certain Because..." in disguise for an American audience. This one is also an OG US Pressing. In Mono this time!)
- The Beatles' "A Hard Day's Night" (This one is a copy from the USSR in 1990! It does NOT feature the song "When I Get Home" since the government at the time thought the lyrics were too sexual for the public.)
- Blur's "The Special Collectors Edition" (A very charming compilation of B-Sides that was released exclusively in Japan on CD in the 90s.)
And that's all! I'm very happy with all of the cool things I found and would love to stop by that store in Montreal again. I'm planning a trip to California in February, so perhaps I'll find another store there....
The hunt never ends!
