last night i hung out with my friends! we went to the local nature centres holiday lights fundraiser- which is basically a quarter mile trail that's completely decorated in christmas lights n' decorations! ive gone to this a few years before with my mother. i dont think we were able to go the past few years but it holds a special place in my heart, so i was super happy to be able to pass on the traditions to my friends ^^
it was pretty humid out, unfortunately. like 80 degrees and muggy as hell. so it didn't really feel christmas-y, expecially since i was wearing my stupid sweater. i dont say stupid sweater because it's a sweater, i say that because the tag says stupid.com [i checked the website by the way- it's now a cryptocurrency :/] and it has a subtle pattern of two reigndeer pooping on the front. you dont really notice it at first- it just looks like a nice sweater. so i get a lot of compliments and i go 'yeah? really?' and then i wait for them to realize. WITHOUT FAIL, EVERYONE has stared at it for like 10 seconds like 'yeah its a nice sweater!' and then they notice and go 'OH.' it's honestly the ultimate sweater. plus it's full cotton and yall know me and being picky about material. best thrifted sweater i coulda got.
anyways, back to the hangout. the walk was nice, and then we got to the end where theres a bonfire and marshmallows. it wasn't really smores this year, but they DID have hot chocolate! and water. boy did i need that water... anyways, i failed to burn any of my marshmallows. they all came out like, freakishly well. only one of them fell in the fire. i fed one of my friends like some kind of alligator handler because the stick is like, 10 feet long. to be fair, she is pretty feral.
afterwards my friends wanted to go see wicked 2. i figured we were going to the commercial cinema next to my university, but turns out the place showing it was this local one that was like 7 minutes away! i completely forgot about that place and honestly thought it'd closed down. IM SO GLAD IT DIDNT, THOUGH! im totally going back there because the prices are honestly really nice AND its local.
we got there an hour early because i overestimated how much time we'd take at the nature walk, but there were arcade games so i tried to gamble for some really stupid looking emoji plushie keychains. oh my god i WISH i had taken a picture because they looked so stupid. i wanted this pleading face one but the game was so rigged it was physically impossible to move the claw over to it. heartbreaking...
well anyhow, BECAUSE it's a local cinema, a sunday night, and like 10 pm, there wasnt anyone else in the theater. literally just us. we entered at like 9:40 and because it's not corporate they werent showing any ads or anything, so it was literally just all 6 of us in an empty theater. so of course, as one does when they're 18-20, unsupervised, and around their friends, we got a bit silly.
i dont even remember half of what we did, just that everything was really funny. at some point some of them kept trying to run down the sloped aisles on all fours and kept failing miserably. it was hilarious to watch.
when the movie did eventually start, i found myself getting, like, WAY into it. i hadn't even seen the first wicked, but holy shit this movie was... good?? like really good? i absolutely adore it and how seriously it takes itself. i'm probably gonna try to watch the first one at some point. it was really nice to see a movie that leans into being from musical, and i think splitting it into two releases gave it the time it needed to really explore more themes a musical may not have time for. of course, i havent SEEN the musical yet, so ill have to find a performance near me that i can compare it to at some point. im sure itll be in a lot of rosters in the next year or so...
when it finally ended, it was past midnight and raining. one of my roommates was super hungry, so she went with a couple of our friends to taco bell while the sleepier of us drove straight home with me. im not a great driver, but i will admit theres a certain vibe to driving in the middle of the night that i actually love. i think most of what makes me nervous on the road is being around other drivers, and nobody else is usually out that late. the rain was nice aesthetically, but jesus some of the sides of the road werent draining fast enough. im thankful my car has such good control, brakes, and tires. beatrice [my car] may be a bitch but she's reliable. like yeah she costs more money than i'd like and she refuses to play cds without stealing them for months, but she's gonna get me there and back no matter what. love that car, even if i do call her a bitch a lot of the time.
oh yeah, we were playing fuck marry kill on the way to the nature centre. but it was, like, christmas themed. it started with like christmas characters- frosty, santa, mrs. clause, the grinch... but then it devolved into like. objects. but like if the object was a person. like, for example. eco friendly glitter, handmade christmas ornament, and reused christmas bag. personally i'd marry the ornament, fuck the bag, and kill the glitter. not because the glitter is bad it's just the least of the three. although it's a close tie on who i'd marry between the ornament and the christmas bag. but i have a soft spot for handmade trinkets. deffos a conversation starter!
anyhow, i suppose that's my diary entry for now. i want to make more of these more often, alongside some in depth posts about some life advice i wanna share. those ones i might write outside the blog box, edit, and really polish to make something im proud of. for now, i suppose i'll sign off. happy holidays, and keep kickin'!
