Trying to go offline before it becomes inevitable

Has anyone else started investing in absurd amounts on physical media that do not require internet to work? Great, me too!

I've actually wondered and searched for all sorts of alternatives, records, CDs, USBs, 2000s Cameras that are now family heirlooms, I've stocked up on  exciting books and comics to read, about music genres, the wonders of the world, silly romances etc.

But I've stopped to think, what about fanfiction? will  i just have to learn to write my own? or is there some other way to store and access it without internet that i just haven't figured out yet??? I'm a little tech illiterate on some aspects.

I believe the time we spend offline does us good and causes distress to those who see us as just content consumers, so we don't even have to wait for the ai bubble to burst in order to have huge interest in old tech and offline gadgets.

Get that walkman, buy that CD, stock up on things that excite you off screen and tear your eyes away from social media

After all, their prices will only go up once it happens so you don't really have to wait, and if i am proven wrong then congrats, you've got yourself a healthy hobby!!!

Please recommend me techniques and other solutions that come to mind, especially about reading things typically found online!

im going back to physical media too, though maybe not fully no-internet but more "limited internet" like when i was a kid and we really only used the internet to download music, watch movie trailers, or play online games.

i'd really love to hear your reviews of the things you stocked up on, since i'm no longer a big reader, sadly.

as for fanfiction, you can download them offline as pdf at least on ao3. i remember reading a bookbiding tutorial if you want them physical too, but if not you can copy and paste them in a text editor like Word to read offline.

You're right! Thank you kindly!

Also yes, limited internet is very much ideal,
personally i just have to embrace the other end in order to get to the middle if it makes sense

I will be making different updates on books, being on social media had made the time spent reading deteriorate, yet it's never too late for anyone to switch it up!

Even a book per month goes a long way

I've also been working on building my physical media collection! I lost alot of my stuff when I lost my house so I've been trying to get as much stuff back as I can find! I finally got ahold of a CD player for all of my CDs. I dug my digital camera out of storage finally as well (Only downside is this thing Absoltutely eats batteries lol.) I'm hoping to find a MP3 player for when I'm out and about (any recomendations would be awesome) I've slowly been able to get more books as well. I wanna find some more DVDs to. Thankfully I mannaged to get physical copies of most of my games as well. I think it's kinda neat how many people lately have been going back to physcial media!
