Introduction
Hello, Angels and possibly followers! Today we will be going over ways to improve your photo taking and editing skills, we will go over many key things you can do to improve your photo taking, things you can do to edit better, and help you look perfection group material. These are NOT at all required, but they are preferred. Effort makes perfection. These tips are for improvement and are more simple than you may think.
Take these criticisms well and try to implement them into your posts!
Photo Taking
A big mistake we see in most scenestagram perfection group posts is low-effort pictures/selfies. Nothing is wrong with selfies, of course, but a lot of selfies we see posted to perfection groups aren't very appealing. Specifically close up selfies are a no go, we'd love to see your beautiful face, yes, but we also want you to showcase your style. We need you to set the scene!
A good way to upgrade your photo taking is to experiment! Taking the same type of pictures over and over gets predictable, and possibly boring. Browsing upon old MySpace photos for inspiration helps a ton, try to replicate the photos, come up with ideas, hold objects, and set the scene!
One of the best things you can do is take your photos with your camera set up on a tripod (or a shelf, table, whatever you have.) This is a great way to showcase yourself completely. To add on, Full body photos in general are perfect. Have your friends take photos of you, take photos outside, etc.
Editing
This is something a lot of people in the scene community struggle with...and it's hard to see. We will go off of things that are NO GO's for perfection groups and quite frankly, the general scene aesthetic.
A lot of people have an obsession with stickers, specifically PicsArt stickers which are, to be blunt, a hot mess. Putting stickers and graphics on your pictures washes you out completely and makes your pictures look tacky.
Something a lot of scenesters are obsessed with as of now, is editing their pictures to look low quality. Many people think this makes their pictures look 'authentic' but this is not how MySpace perfection group pictures looked at all, perfection group members on MySpace took the best and most high quality pictures they could. The reason most scene photos you see look low quality as of now, is because of the amount of times they've been saved and reposted. As harsh as it sounds, that is another thing that will make your photos look tacky.
Many people also like to use flashy borders on their posts, which is yet another thing that washes you out. Using borders overall is fine if they're minimalistic or preferably single colored.
Something that is exclusive to our group is the misinterpretation that every photo you post has to be completely black and white, you do not have to. You can desaturate your photo, or use a filter that saturates and adds hints of B&W, Gray, or Beige. You can even ask us to edit the photo for you.
One last mistake I'd like to point out is putting all of your group logos on the same picture, if you've taken multiple, it's better to put the logos on each individual one. Another alternative is not using the logos at all and typing out your group acronyms and putting them on your photo, example: [AB] [CD] [EF].
To now go over what we recommend for editing, to be completely honest, we prefer no editing at all. OG perfection group editing is inherently minimalistic and the members' pictures usually only contained their scene name, Myspace ID, Photoshop, and maybe a filter. What we really want is a monotonous photo that speaks for itself. Feel free to add your scene name, and our logo.
As aforementioned, many people in OG perfection groups used Photoshop. By saying this, we are not trying to promote hiding your insecurities, the way you express yourself matters more than the things you can't change. We are letting you know we will not discriminate if you decide to slightly touch up your photos, as long as you keep it minimal. Do what you please: Darken/Lighten your hair, enhance or even change your eye color, fix-up your makeup, it doesn't matter to us.
If you don't want your photos automatically cropped by Instagram, a good hack is to go onto PicsArt & pick a plain black background, crop it to 'portrait' (3:4), click 'add photo', and place your full photo there.
Apps you can use:
Phonto - Allows you to import fonts and put text on your pictures
Bleach Bypass - Has many filters you can use
Lightroom - Advanced editing

To sum it up, we want our members to be the subject of the photo. Set the scene and make everything else secondary, we just want to see you.
We hope these tips were helpful. Comment if you have any questions, and we will get back to you.
