I have scoliosis and over time I have learned to manage but I always forget it shows me just how bad it is in the colder months which is why I could never live somewhere super cold I've known I have nerve damage from it since about 14 it started with muscle spasms then the tingle warmness now it feels like I'm hurt but when I look I'm not like a cut somewhere and I look ad don't have one or the other day I was just standing there completely fine then it felt like I had a huge bruise on my thigh idk this shits weird but yeah so that's happening. also because of my back I'm having to change what I'm going to school for my back just can't take it so im now going to school for phlebotomy which takes way less time so yeah.

I've also got scoliosis and nerve damage from it, yee haw! I got herrington rods surgically put in when I was 14 cause it was progressing too much too fast, and now most of my back has nerve dmg of some sort. Some areas along my scar are completely numb, while others feel like tv static when touched. I also get the bruise-like feeling but have no bruise and it just goes away shortly. I think it's just a muscle spasm or knot or something that gets felt more like a bruise because of the nerve fuckery. And yeah, the cold sure doesn't help. The worst part about it for me is that when I'm cold, my muscles tense up really hard in an attempt to generate some heat- not quite shivering just tensing really tight. And the tensing KILLS my back! My ribs are crooked cause i had a strong s-curve, so when the muscles around them tense it feels so fuckin painful with the rib bones aready being out of line. And it makes me lower back and shoulder blades feel like someone just punched them repeatedly. It sucks!! Spinal problems suck!!! The only effective things ive found to do about the weird muscle pains is take tylenol and do deep breathing while layng down (laying flat is the only way to re-set my back), to try to relax my whole body and stop the over-tensing in my back. Also making sure I wear lots of layers when its cold, and dont let myself get to that cold-tense state to begin with. Scoliosis is such a frustrating pain to live with tho. I think ppl kinda underestimate just how much having a spinal deformity fucks with your entire body, and how bad the pain really can get.

yeah I was diagnosed at 12 and went to a specialist he said I didn't need a brace because my back was almost done growing he was wrong it would have helped and then I had 2 other drs for it since them and one of them had the apostolate balls to tell me scoliosis causes no pain and doesn't hurt I wanted to kill her because yes it does a lot actually just look at my spine.

Omfg scary that there's a doctor out there thinking scoliosis causes no pain??? I had bad rib, shoulder blade, neck and lower back pain all the time before surgery. I still do but now it's cause of how the rods sit, but it's a different -arguably more bearable- pain now. I'd also get bad pain from trying to correct my posture cause I was in dance, and really bad tension headaches cause my shoulders were not level, so my neck was kinked all day every day. Absolutely insane that a medical professional would try to tell someone "No you aren't in pain cause of scoliosis, it's painless!" Like hello!?!?!? MY BONES AINT RIGHT! Of course that's gonna hurt!
