MTV Unplugged [Live] - Alice In Chains
This album is legendary for so many reasons. It was Layne's last live performance, it has so much sadness yet a joy that comes with it, and as far as acoustic albums go this is without a doubt the best one I've listened to. This is also my first memory with the band I'm named after so it has some nostalgia for me. This is truly the peak of the band for me because there's nothing else by any other band that really compares other than Nirvana's Unplugged (which is also my favorite album of there's for similar reasons). All in all I give this album a SOLID 9/10.
- Nutshell 10/10
This song starts the album of on a somber note while also sounding incredible. The original sounds so different but yet this sounds like it could've been made on acoustic. I think that this song is better than all but maybe one of the Nirvana MTV songs.
- Down In A Hole 8.5/10
You can feel Layne's sorrow in this song. His voice and the dueting is so pure and Jerry in the bridge contrasts Layne's somewhat raspy voice with his smooth voice. Everything about this song is perfect. From the laid back drums to the vocals.
- Over Now 9.5/10
This song being the last song they were planning to play makes sense for so many reasons. It's about Layne not being about to play live and Jerry wanting to tour again, along with them having to release a few more albums due to the fact they signed a contract. They new the band was ending but they had to drag it out due to said contract. It so sad knowing how everything goes down later because of how this song foreshadowed it.
