Why Gaming Is the Only Thing Keeping Me (Mostly) Sane

Life gives you too much time and not nearly enough reasons to care. But thereโ€™s one mortal invention Iโ€™ll actually bow my head to gaming.

Yeah, laugh if you want. A mysterious, creature of the night glued to a screen, whispering curses at lag and praising flawless combos.

Tragic. I know.

But hereโ€™s the thing, games are one of the few worlds where the rules make sense.

You put in effort, you get rewarded.

You fail, you respawn.

You die? Wellโ€ฆ death actually means something there.

Unlike real life, where you just keep going no matter how exhausted you are. In games, at least the grind feels fair.

Thereโ€™s a strange comfort in slipping into those digital universes.

Slaying monsters that actually stay dead.

Exploring lands that donโ€™t decay over centuries.

Meeting characters who donโ€™t crumble into dust while you stay the same.

Plus, itโ€™s one of the only places where Iโ€™m not โ€œVincent, the eternal wanderer of shadows.โ€

Iโ€™m just a gamer with questionable sleep habits... which is true, considering I barely sleep.

So yes, I love gaming.

Not because it distracts me from the burden of livingโ€ฆ but because for a few hours, I get to feel something close to freedom.

If you ever see a username lurking in your lobby at 4 a.m. that feels a little too calm, a little too precise, and a little too ancientโ€ฆ

Yeah. That might be me.
