After 5 years together (including 2 years of marriage), my partner and I are finally spending our first Christmas together! I'm currently sitting in the airport waiting for my flight to England.

I've got about 2 hours to kill so I just went to a random gate that had tables with power outlets. Been watching people come and go. I saw a mother and son who ran up to the counter, thinking they'd made it to their flight, only to realize they were at the wrong gate. The mom turned around and burst into tears. Her son--who couldn't have been more than ten years old--looked up at her very sweetly and said "Mom, we'll be okay!" Maybe I'm just a sap, but I'm always moved when I see kids trying to comfort and support their parents, I think it's so touching. I hope he was right!

The gate I'm at is for Japan Air. Just saw about five groups of people sprint up to the gate one after another. Must've been a holdup somewhere on their previous flights. They all just barely made it. I've never witnessed someone running through an airport like they're in a movie,[^1] so it was kinda cool to see. I'm glad everyone made it in time! One of the gate attendants kept switching between English and Japanese[^2] which was really cool.

Besides people watching I'm just juicing up all my tech--my phone, my laptop, my 3DS, and my MP3 player. Also downloading a few albums to load on my MP3 player. Not sure what all I will listen to on the flight. Probably lots of chill stuff haha. I hope I can get a nap in; by the time I land in London I'll have been traveling for 24 hours, and I'll still have a couple trains to catch before I'm done. My partner, Jem, will be with me though by then, so I won't have to worry about anything haha.

Hoping to use this trip as a creative reset of sorts. I've brought some paper, supplies, and my sketchbook. I also want to do lots of writing and webdev stuff--hopefully I can start developing transmen.online again, it's been sitting neglected since the summer.

Last night I was in a huge tizzy with pre-travel jitters. Stayed up till like 3:30 AM. During that time I overhauled my whole notebook system here on the site--every entry has its own unique link now, so it'll be much easier to access from RSS links, and also just works smoother for me. Only took a LITTLE bit of CSS and Astro finagling.[^3] Gonna set my Nekoweb RSS back up now too so my followers there can see when I post! :D

Hope everyone is doing well! I wanna try doing somewhat consistent updates during this trip. Hopefully you'll hear from me again soon!

Take care! <3

[^1]: This scene from Home Alone comes to mind--and not just because it's the holiday season.
[^2]: I'd really like to learn Japanese myself one day. The school of Buddhism I follow, Jodo Shu, was founded in Japan. Learning the language and being able to read the primary texts would be awesome. I'd love to visit one day and go to different temples.
[^3]: I never have any idea of what I'm doing when I'm coding...I just keep hacking away at stuff until it works, lol.

[^3] people think coding is this big scary thing when really all it is, is problem solving while not being afraid of squiggly lines. Best of luck on the websites! The notebook be lookin fresh af as always

Definitely! Honestly the workflow reminds me of how I tackle my art sometimes--like pieces that are half finished and I gotta work out the rest to make it complete. Everything creative is sort of a puzzle in the end.
