new plant in famyli - fikus benjamina

Hi everyone,

Tonight I want to show you my new plant – a Ficus benjamina.

This plant is a present from my lovely grandma <3

If you subscribe to my blog, you probably know that I love plants and I have a lot of them, which means that a new plant is always the best gift for me. And yes, that also means I already love this one! Now I want to tell you what I know about it.

The Ficus benjamina, also known as the weeping fig, is a popular houseplant appreciated for its glossy leaves and elegant appearance. It comes from Southeast Asia and Australia and belongs to the Moraceae family, which also includes mulberries and fig trees. At home, this plant grows well in bright, indirect light and should be watered moderately, allowing the top layer of soil to dry between waterings. Too much shade or overwatering can cause it to drop its leaves. The Ficus benjamina prefers temperatures around 20–25°C and slightly increased humidity, so occasional misting is helpful. It does not tolerate drafts or sudden temperature changes. Repotting every few years and light fertilizing in spring and summer help keep it healthy. Despite being a bit sensitive, it can live for many years and adds a calming, natural atmosphere to any room. In Polish, this plant is commonly called “beniaminek.”

I’m attaching a few photos so you can see what my plants look like. And yes, you heard that right — I have three different varieties planted in one pot: one is completely green, the second is yellow-green, and the third is green-white.

see you tomorow

your dear Rudy
