the path I chose was mine,
and mine alone.
every decision I’ve made—
mine,
and mine alone.
searching for who I am meant to become,
I ask myself again and again:
who am I?
what must I be?
what have my choices
brought me to?
were the roads I walked
the right ones?
I must play the cards
I was given—
what else can I be,
other than what life demands of me?
is this bravery,
or a quiet form of naivety
disguised as hope?
what must I be?
lost inside my own thoughts,
I circle the same questions:
who should I be?
what must I be?
this cannot be the end.
I must search,
I must look deeper,
I must understand—
who must I be?
so I rise,
soar the sky,
fly toward the unknown,
and discover
who I must be.
