hihi!! i wanted to write about my day today because it was sooooo good.. i saw shoot from the hip in london and it was so incredible!!! if you havent heard of them, shoot from the hip are a british improv comedy group, they post a lot of clips from their live shows on their instagram/tiktok and they have a youtube channel where they post their longform improvised plays. they're SO funny and if u can go to any of their live shows i would 100000000% recommend it the atmosphere was so good and i walked out with a headache from having laughed so hard loll. i've been a casual fan since 11th december last year but now ive seen them live ive become quite obsessed its all im thinking of and talking about!
i always love a day out to london. i live far enough that it's exciting but near enough that it's feasible to go relatively often which is good for me cos i luv the theatre & concerts & live comedy (mind you i live near a pretty well known university city so we get a fair few who come here too but i won't pass up the chance to do london and i don't think sfth have actually come here before? not while ive been a fan that ive seen anyway). i got a train an hour earlier than expected cos my mum was taking my sister and her friend out, so she gave me a lift to the station. i was glad i did though cos i kind of forgot that it takes some time to get around london - getting through kings cross, toilet queues, getting down to the platforms on the tube, getting back up onto the ground, finding the place itself.. i still got there half an hour early, but if i hadn't got that earlier train i would certainly have been tight for time. would probably have made it rushing but that would be far less enjoyable. underbelly boulevard, where the show was, is pretty near shaftesbury avenue (off piccadilly circus) which is where loads of theatres are so i know the area quite well. i got to see the apollo which is where i'm seeing the guy who didn't like musicals next year!!
on the way there it kind of hit me that i was seeing shoot from the hip live. it just never properly occurred to me prior to then because i booked it ages ago and it's not that i didn't really really like them before it's just that i was like. genuinely normal about them. i watched their stuff sure but it wasn't like i watched every single longform whenever it dropped, im not even through the backlog yet and i started working backwards from divorces and teddy bears (the latest one at the time when i became a fan). but then i remembered that i love live comedy and i actually really like these guys too and find them really funny. theyre real and not just on my screen + i can laugh really loud without disturbing the other members of my household. so i was giddy by the time i got there and you know what? rightly bloody so that was INCREDIBLE. omg. for one thing as i mentioned before the atmosphere was so nice and it's always fun to be in a room of people who all like the same thing as you, especially here vs the theatre because at the theatre a lot of people go for just general entertainment whereas here everyone went because they had heard of and enjoyed shoot from the hip specifically, if that makes sense? like, it's not just an "oh let's go out" situation it's more "i really like this group of people so i'm going to see them", almost like concert vibes but a hell of a lot more chill. i think there were only about two people in there who hadnt heard of sfth (to warm the audience up they were doing "cheer if you [x]" and one of them was about if you'd heard of them or seen any of their stuff or something). i just cant tell you how much fun it was and how funny these guys are. seriously if you have half an hour-40 mins to spare please humour me and watch one of their improvised plays, i particularly luv strange noises from the hole in the wall and bluebells, marigolds, and hugh (ive heard great things about "never give annabelle a gun" and "no time to die again" too though i havent got around to watching those yet). our improvised play today (which will be called either "were-cowboys" or "where cowboys?" it was hotly debated) was top tier as well so i guess keep an eye out for that. i just!!!!! aghh i'm in that stage of feeling absolutely bloody mental about them but having nothing particularly to say im just rotating them in my mind like a microwave <3
as for other events of the day. i finally redyed my hair, kind of? i'd got this coloured conditioner so i decided to try that out this morning. i got worried becase after i'd put it on i noticed that it was kind of red, but it came out fine thankfully. little more warm toned than i'd usually go for but its nothing major. it's not a very strong colour tbh but it will tide me over until i finally do manage to redye my hair properly and that was my aim. i'm a natural blonde so when the purple dye fades it looks grey especially at the ends.. not what im going for!!
also, i listened to mika's new song. i really like mika because probably about half of his discography is straight up not good but it's all fun to listen to anyway. the boy who knew too much is a highly important album to me BECAUSE of how ass it is.. it's like when you enjoy a show but would never in your life call it good or even recommend that others experience it. shoutout to mika big fan of whatever the hell he has going on.
i think thats more than enough yap for one day. i am off to give my cat a cuddle and watch more sfth improvised plays.. bye!! ^_^
