Hello!! KAangell here, and i want to share something;
Why does normies (Internet slang for ordinary people who follow popular trends and are not deeply involved in online subcultures, niches, or web humor.) now are feeling the absolute need to become nerds and making being a nerd worse. I am what would be considered a nerd, FNAF fan, MCR fan, horror tapes, lost media, danganronpa, fanonrompa, vocaloid niche songs, DC, ranfren, i'm an ex gacha kid, sander sides, entingville club, slendytubbies, and i am in almost every fandom.
AND NOW, it seems like some normies decided that being weird is trendy7, i've ben seeing a huge amount of "Nightwing isn't fat", or "Deadpool isn't gay", well, batman is not broke, so take the damn suit off, you know nothing about them you just watched one BATMAN MOVIE fuck off, same thing with fnaf, "oh i love fnaf im such a weird kid lol', name one song that's not it's been so long.
i'm not a gatekeeper, far from it, i love sharing my stuff, but it's so angering to see ppl that know nothing about them destroy the whole thing so it fits them prejudicious ideas. but, still, you're not a nerd, you're not omg so quirky bc you like one fnaf song, you're less of a fan? no, if you enjoy smth you're a fan, but don't call yourself the biggest fan when you know one thing about it.
ALSO, hating self ships, x readers, ships, headcannons, rare pairs, WHY ARE YOU IN A FANDOM THAT'S LIT THE ROOTS OF IT GO ROT!!
That's it, thank you for listening to me rant, KAangell out! BLESS

ultimately it’s a matter of trend hopping, so whatever is cool to them that starts trending (despite bullying someone for liking the same thing at some point) is inevitable for them to fall into & say theyve “been here the whole time”. said people are too afraid to develop any sense of individuality & develop their own interests without external validation & support from the people around them- because once the “trend” dies or becomes uncool, anything they’ve physically purchased will take root in the ever growing landfills.
People need to start liking what they like. tiktok, and social media is killing the autenticity, like what do you mean being alt is now trendy???? i was called slurs for being goth and now u are too because it's hot now? shame! {{{(>_<)}}}

I have noticed this for a while. I was bullied for liking anime and games, especially since it was not in the gender norm for me either growing up. Suddenly, the bullies would use anime pfps when it was trendy and such, and then start taking over. It’s really annoying. The internet used to be for weirdos mostly in these subcultures (and I say that as a weirdo myself,) but now it seems it’s half normies who refuse to understand anything outside what they deem normal, and half people trying to take their stuff back!
Very good to see people agree with me!! i'm so sorry for you being bullied by STUPID people, i'm not the biggest anime nerd, but i've been noticing that now, everyone likes anime, like back in my day you would be either called pervert or a nerd, i say like i'm soo old but i'm just too chronically online

Ever since the pandemic, normies have been invading fandom spaces and it sucks. I can’t blame them since the internet was the only place for them at the time, but they weren’t raised on our culture and you can notice a HUGE shift from the internet pre and post COVID. It’s been getting each time more hostile, to the point I don’t even feel like joining fandoms anymore. It’s just not the same
THAT IS TRUE >︿<
like i was called "problematic" for shipping two adult characters with the same age because they "never interacted too much" baby, back in my day we usually shipped elsa x jack frost what are u on about? and then, sum normies go around saying that shipping and fanficitons are cringe? why are you in the internet.
