Does anybody know if spacehey will be affected by Australia's upcoming social media ban? I've been trying to find some good alternatives to my usual social media sites and here seemed cool.
Honestly I find the whole ban to be ridiculous, especially since it affects so many people who can legally do so many other "grown up" things. At the age of 15 I can be charged with a crime and be sentenced to life in prison, drop out of school, get a job and start driving a car, but having an Instagram account is where my government draws the line?
While I agree that children shouldn't be on social media, why not make the same decision the rest of the world has made and make the minimum age for holding an account 13?
At the end of the day all the issues the Australian government is trying to solve with this ban will still be around. Cyberbullying, grooming, porn, gore, negative body image, misinformation and being antisocial were all problems before social media existed; and they won't go away if we exaggerate a small problem and send an angry mob of politicians wielding pitchforks at it

It will be included in the ban.
https://www.esafety.gov.au/about-us/industry-regulation/social-media-age-restrictions-hub has a ton of info about it, and i believe https://www.esafety.gov.au/about-us/industry-regulation/social-media-age-restrictions/assessment is related to how to tell what service is included, which is what i've used.
I'm honestly still gonna use spacehey, i'm only 15 for a bit after it's introduced so it'll be fine.
