First of all, i'm not from australia and i'm only going to talk about what i know from what's going on.
in my opinion, i'm ok with the ban of those social medias like tiktok or instagram. but im not fine with the ban of youtube. youtube by far is the most educational social media ever and i was able to learn more from it than school in all honesty.
ive heard people comment that they cant talk to their friends that way, and i understand that the distance might be hard, but they could talk to them through messaging apps, or for kids who don't have mobile phones yet: any other messagine app literally or simply knowing their house number.
i believe i was part of the last years in my generation where you could have a life without the generalization of social media, and i remember talking to my friends and playing with them through phoning each other's houses, or using the app hangouts (eg).
i feel like these people have never tried a phone detox in their life. i have, and it felt awesome. i felt like i was a kid again and days seemed to never end. now, i know that its not up to the government to choose how to parent kids, but it's pretty serious when parents themselves don't even bother to raise their children correctly. the extreme usage is affecting children's cognitive functions and behaviours and that could lead to huge problems in the future.
it really sucks to go for dinner and seeing kids on their tablets or whatever because theyre unable of living without being constantly hyperstimulated. life can still be great without screens.
for god sake my 10 year old cousin writes and talks like a toddler still, what the fuck is going on?
please dont take this too harsh and if you have any comments just let me know but dont be rude

I agree with you so much.
It really does suck how kids are at the dinner table looking at the screen, it's just too crazy, in it gets really nasty when the parents don't care for their kids for some reason. Once again, to crazy for me to believe it's come to this day where we have to write about how bad things have gotten for kids being on screens..I also think getting rid of YouTube was not okay because your right there is still a lot of education on the platform but the app itself still have werid stuff on it that kids don't need to be seeing like those werid videos where a new show that comes up and youtubers make videos of them and start making them pregnant and make them have babies and stuff....Which is why I think they got rid of YouTube, too; they even have it on the kids' YouTube app.
Something HAS to change.
absolutely. of course youtube does harm to kids (depends on the content, even stuff like cocomelon is brutal) but that is fixed with politics of child protection and so on. hopefully we can achieve something that does not deteriorate children's wellbeing but that is still something able and done in our years that will give no problems.

what pisses me off the most is kids saying that they're taking away your rights. i mean...no? because theyre going to end up giving you access to social media when youre around the age of 16. the problem would be when social media is completely prohibited.
theyre so brainrotted they just dont even realize its for their own good

dude for I have a 7/8 year old brother he still talks like a toddler as soon as he was 3 IPAD he's always on it and it leads to him developing later, he talks like a baby he can barely say sentences its sad and I've tried to help the only 'punishment' he gets is his iPad taken or he will be hit. he cries without it and needs it too sleep...
Im so sorry, you may want to try getting off for a while, like 3 minutes, then have the time longer and longer, maybe that would help.:,)

i wouldnt like to tell your parents how to raise your brother but, what i would do, is trying to get him off the tablet for a short period of time and trying to find nondigital activities that hed find interesting, try to make it a routine and little by little detoxing him with longer periods.
maybe hell get used to it? unless hes now unavailable to live without a screen imo
