Why do people have dreams? Genuine question here, cuz i dont understand, whats the meaning, what does dreaming do for a person, why do our brains make us have dreams? And if its supposed to do something good, why give us nightmares aswell? Im confused!!

Probably because it's nice to think about things other than your life's problems and worries. Even if it's a bad dream, it's probably the "change of scenery" that counts.
