i see so many fake "deep" people both on here and on the internet in general, trying to sound poetic but essentially all they're saying is "religion make ppl dumb,religion just a coping mechanism, i exempt cause i use reddit and listen to indie music and i watch porn (or something else just as destructive) to cope i dont believe in god, yaaa!!!!"
only really speaking about islam in this blog. that's the main one i have experience with as i am muslim
first of all, if it was a coping mechanism, we would abandon it when we're done "coping" ? except NOBODY! has left their religion because of happiness; in fact, most people become closer to their faith when they are happier and become distant when they're depressed.
second of all, islamic golden age? hello? we invented so many things, and it lasted hundreds of years! has there ever been a disbelieving golden age? believing in god was a standard for centuries. now it's something extreme and uncommon in many areas; now what have the disbelievers invented? the oedipus complex aka the incest theory? very impressive.. try inventing algebra, universities, (modern) surgery, hospitals, and performing the first successful caesarean section, which i guarantee is how the people with this take were born because i doubt they have ever touched a vagina in their lives.
"religious people are dumb" no, you are!

i left my religion because it made me happy, i self harmed heavily when i was a child because my father said i had to kill myself to sacrifice myself to god, i didnt feel safe in my own body because of all the things my father told me about god.
when i left my religion i became ten times happier, now im not saying that you cant be religious, thats all you, but some things you stated are just wrong
first of all i'm so sorry that those things happened to you, that is not right at all and i hope you have healed at least a little bit from that. but when i said nobody has left religion because it made them happy, i didn't mean that leaving makes them happy, i more meant that nobody leaves a religion because of the religion making them happy. again i'm very sorry you went through that, especially at a young age. nobody should go through that.

the majority of inventions that have lasted this long were created by religious people because religion was forced upon mass groups of people for hundreds of years through colonization and war. im not saying that christianity is any better, or any religion in fact, as im an atheist, but if you're seriously trying to insinuate that it's morally or intellectually superior to follow a religion where "heaven" constitutes 72 virgins for men to use for their own pleasure and endorses a piece of fabric that covers a 14 year old girl's entire body with the exception of her eyes to not "appeal" to grown men then..
and about your rebuttal to the "coping mechanism claim", this is a very basic view of human psychology. in almost every other coping mechanism like prn, alcohol, drugs, etc., their addiction or coping mechanism is exactly WHAT makes them happy in life. that's why they use it. so no, they don't get more distant when they're depressed. this especially replies to religion as death is the ultimate fear of humanity inherently as living beings, so of course eternal life is a coping mechanism that many would choose to believe in. as an ex-christian ive seen this in almost every deconstruction story ive ever heard. and religion does not equate to iq/intelligence in anyway..

god this is such a braindead take i don't even want to dignify it by replying to you. i recommend that you do some research, your take on hijab is rooted in ignorance and the 72 virgins hadith is weak. i could not care less that you're an ex-christian, that doesn't give your opinion any authority regarding islam. stop being ignorant.

saying my take is ignorant and that a perfectly valid statement is weak is not education, it is not ignorant to observe how all Abrahamic religions, especially the two most popular today, are staunchly anti-feminist/anti-woman and if you can't handle your world view being challenged without hurling insults then don't put a public and bold opinion out on the internet where educated people will want to challenge your take????

there's nothing to respond to because what you said was simply wrong. the hadith is weak and your take on hijab is rooted in ignorance, as i already stated. your comment wasn't made in genuine curiosity or a search for a meaningful discussion, no matter what i say you are going to ignore it and keep saying islam is anti-women hijab is oppressive blah blah blah. i have no interest in a conversation with you, as you are ignorant and you're not bringing anything new to the discussion. you're spewing the same rhetoric that people like you have said for decades and ignored the answers to. in islam, we are told not to debate with those who are ignorant/stubborn, because they will never accept the reasoning for, or even acknowledge, our worldview. this isn't an insult this is an observation i've made across every interaction i've had with you. good day xx

also not sure if you realize what i'm calling weak? the hadith you are referencing about men getting 72 virgins in jannah is weak, meaning that the chain of narration (for example, jesse said that she heard bob say muhammad said this this and this) for that hadith isnt authentic, whether people are missing in it, the people are known to not be trustworthy, and some other instances i can't remember at the moment
