Piracy as a Form of Access to Art
Hello everyone, how are you? I hope you are well.
Don't you think that access to art in all its forms should be public and available even to people who lack the resources to access it? I'm talking about movies, music, books, and those things.
For a long time, they have tried to sell us this idea that piracy is as serious as theft, and in many places, it is even a crime, although, of course, not everyone who does it can be caught. Piracy has allowed millions of people to get in touch with art. For example, a few years ago, the only way you had to listen to music was by buying a CD, and if you had no way to pay for it, you had to settle for listening to it on the radio, if they played it, and if you were there to hear it. Then piracy arrived and allowed access to music for all these people.
The same thing happens with movies; not everyone can afford to go to the cinema or subscribe to a streaming service. So, because they were born poor, should we deny them access to good cinema? I think not. Everyone should have access to this form of artistic expression, and if that means a multimillion dollar company doesn't become even more multimillion dollar, I think it's a reasonable price.
Now, I'm not saying that we should all pirate. I think those of us who have the ability to pay for what we consume should do so, especially with small projects, low-budget films, emerging artists, novice writers, etc. But we cannot punish people who pirate while trying to access a form of entertainment that we acquired through privilege.

i love you all.

I agree with this take 100%. Under capitalism, food, water, and clean air are considered luxuries, so of course they would lock art behind a pay wall smh.
All I have to say is AHOY MATEYS!!!
