while you're waiting for album 10

There's still a few more rehearsals to go with Mike and myself, two more songs to work on and then potentially start recording either late January or February 2026. Yes, that's how smooth and quick things are going with my tenth album.

But I was bored and remastered a dark horse album from 2005.

Twenty years ago, the album JUPITER RETURN was released and well, it sucked. I am just going to be really honest with you there. Musically it's my most experimental, really stretched out with my writing and felt my confidence grow in that regard. But the people in my band at the time were being, well, uncool. At the time, I acquired a new drummer named Evan who turned out to be an instigator. But I'll leave that in the past.

Sonically, the album sounded terrible, and I'm to blame. How so? I rushed things because I was impatient. I felt that I had to prove that life could go on after drummer Darren left. His friends were such jerks to me, and then they realized I was not the jerk after all. When you're the band leader, you're also the shit-catcher.

I know this now.

The production was so flat, and the mastering...well, it wasn't mastered, to my knowledge. I just wanted the damn thing out so people would shut up. I'm never doing that ever again, and so far I haven't. You can't rush art.

So here in 2025, I found the files on YouTube of all places. I extracted the files, and went to work on remastering (or mastering to begin with?) and things suddenly sounded way better. I added more brightness without being too brittle, a bit more depth without the bass frequencies overpowering. I still am not crazy about this album but it sounds as intended now. And I forgot how good some of the songs are. One tune, "Freak Ya Out", made me think "Wait, I wrote THIS?" It was pretty crazy for its time.

At that time, I was riding the high from the second album ALL WIRED UP, really felt like I had the right band, the right sound. But life throws curve balls at all angles. My songwriting was still heavy and powerful, channeling such bands as Unearth, Bleeding Through, Between The Buried and Me, and Meshuggah. Still had my Led Zeppelin/Living Colour vibes going. Even threw in some unusual stuff like The Police and UK (look them up!)

I released the remastered cd and re-branded it as JUPITER RETURN...AGAIN! So check it out on my Bandcamp page. I posted the first song "whatisthis" on my website and the whole album can be streamed on various platforms.

The sound of the album is better now.

If I only had musicians at the time who weren't at odds with me...

**STOP THE PRESSES!! I received files from my friend Ko (who played bass on) the 2008 album ABOUT TO EXPLODE! I have remastered that and put in on my Bandcamp and is now called ABOUT TO EXPLODE! RE-IGNITED. So now ALL NINE albums are up for sale!! WHEW!!
