The more and more I think about my slip ups and mistakes, the more I realize that the root of it all is my phone. It's something every parent loves to say and something every teen loves to ignore. Unfortunately, I'm starting to realize it's the truth. The only reason my grades start to drop, my room stays messy, laundry stays unclean, is because I am always on my phone. Part of me wants to throw my phone away forever and never worry about stupid things like it ever again... and the other part makes me think I can't live without it. So, I decided to force myself into an experiment that's been done many times before.
I'm going to quit using my phone for 30 days. I know a few people are probably laughing, thinking that this is such a minor change to everyday life. My goal is to get more things done, separate myself from the screen. There are few rules to my experiment, since I can't be without my phone for safety reasons. 1) I will only use my phone for music and communication. I have a CD player but only 2 CDs to my name, so I can't really listen to much until I find myself an iPod. 2) The only electronics I'm allowed to use is my computer and my TV (Only with DVDs.) I want to learn how to use physical media better and learn to spend my money on movies and shows. When I move out, I don't want to spend money paying for a streaming service that might take away things I love. As for my computer, I'm only limiting myself to SpaceHey, YouTube, Pinterest, and Tumblr. I don't want to spend time doomscrolling. I want to find creativity and express my thoughts.
My goal is to continue this challenge overtime. Made it to a month? Good! Let's extend it to five months now. I'll be blogging every day to get into the habit of writing and to share with you all how it goes. I want to buy more digital media, stop giving my money to useless apps and billionaires who don't need more money. I want to become more creative, happier with myself, and more focused on school. I think it's really sad that I need to set up challenges for myself to reach this goal, but it's something I'm looking forward to. If I break a day or get on social media once, I'll let you all know. Hopefully this works out well for me, and I'd love it if other people would join in and share how their challenge is going. I can't wait to see how things end up on day 30, maybe I'll do a vlog on it if anyone would be interested on a short video at the end about my no phone journey.
See you all tomorrow!
