I have a big issues about the age gap in the movie. The age gap between Charile and Sam in the movie “the perks of being a wallflower” is honestly a bit weird when you really think about it. Charile is just starting high school, which means he’s probably 14 or 15, while Sam is wrapping up her senior year and getting ready for college, putting her at least 17 or 18. Thats a pretty significant difference especially at that stage of life, where a couple of years can mean a huge gal in maturity, experience, and just general outlook. It’s odd how the movie just glosses over this, treating their romance relationship as if age difference is no big deal. When in reality, a freshman dating a senior who’s about to go off to college is rlly rlly odd to me and I have never seen anything ever talk about their age gap before. It just feels a little off when you think deeper into it and it’s just strange that barely anyone is concerned over it? 😔😔

I was planning to read the book. Would you still recommend it? And yes, a freshman and a senior having a romantic relationship is weird IMO.
kiko!
charlie was constantly sexually abused in the book, i never watched the movie but seeing this i think you would understand better. charlie's life is devastating, he's too innocent to realize what was going on around him, and got taken advantage of regularly.
I have read the book, and yes I understand that Charile has been taken advantage of so I understand in the past.
