But then people actually replied.
Everyone seems to feel the same mix of wanting to talk but not wanting to make the first move. A few people even admitted they struggle with direct messages but still try to interact however they can.
Others pointed out the vibe of the platform that weird mix of nostalgia and community that's been here since forever.
And then there were the more annoying comments. But honestly? Even that gave the whole thing some energy.
I guess what surprised me most was how conversations formed between people who weren't even talking to me directly. It felt less like I posted something and more like I accidentally opened the door to a very strange but lively cafe where everyone has opinions and nobody hesitates to share them.
When it seems dead people are still here. Maybe awkward or maybe bored (me included) but still trying to connect in their own ways.
If nothing else, it reminded me that the internet is chaotic, unpredictable, and sometimes strangely wholesome.. depending on the comment thread you fall into.
Im definitely still curious about the people who wander into these posts!

i actively haunt the recent blog category on this website lol, and comment on about anything that peeks my interest alongside replying to friend's bulletins. i think a lot of people are too shy to make first moves as youve said, but personally im not really affected by that here specifically on spacehey? to me i personally feel like blogging is a way of starting a conversation or wanting to, so i just reply like i would if it were a face to face convo. i think a more prevalent issue on here is the younger side of the user base, who are often alt tweens that i just dont vibe with(i wouldnt expect to as im older and cringe looking back at how i was at 13 LOL). i think a lot of them come on here then very quickly loose interest because theres no built in algorithm to force feed them fixed content. maybe thats why it feels empty yet large at the same time? none the less, i love chatting and im always down for a good convo on spacehey.

Spacehey feels less scary to me too, I'm really not a commenter on other platforms but it feels less daunting and more comfy here.
