Rifle's guide to piercing sizes

Rifles Guide to sizes and gauges of piercing

In this silly guide of mine i will list and explain some things about size of the piercing
Doing it mostly for people who might be confused with it [as i was too in the very beginning of my story with piercing!]

first important thing to know,is what gauge, size or diameter are in piercing

Gauge is simply how thick the jewelry is. The smaller gauge number is - the thicker it gets.
Length measures the wearable part of the barbell [curved or straight]
Diameter is used for circular jewelry like hoops, clickers etc

Theres a quick guide to gauge size chart :D

Gauge {G}-----------Millimeters---------Common piercings

20g                         0.8mm                  Nostril,earlobe

18g                         1.0mm                   Nostril,helix,tragus,earlobes

16g                          1.2mm                   Most common one for cartilage,septum,labret,eyebrow

14g                          1.6mm                    Navel,tongue,nipple,cartilage,lip and inustrial

12g                          2.0mm                   Nipple,tongue,septum,genital piercing,initial steps of stretching

10g                           2.4mm                   Stretched piercings, larger genital piercings

8g                             3.2mm                   stretched earlobes and septum

6g                             4.0mm                     Stretched earlobes,conch and septum

4g                             5.0mm                     stretched earlobes,cartilage,septum

2g                             6.0mm                     again,stretched earlobes!

0g                            8.0mm                   a quite significant for stretching earlobes

00g                           10.0mm                 last one before  having a one whole inch

How to measure the jewelry?

Easiest way is to just ask your piercer, but theres always a way to do it yourself at home
Heres a small guide of how you can do it :

Check jewelry you're using/wearing currently - take on that you know that fits 100%
You can visually compare your current one,and one you want

Use a caliper - for a really precise measurement you can use caliper. Gently clamp it at the non decorative ends  to get exact size in millimeters

The method with caliper is my favorite - you dont have to struggle with telling visually or potentially picking wrong size. Just measure the jewelry and compare with the chart

How do i stretch my piercing to bigger size?
First important rule - dont rush with it. Stretching takes time. Dont rush or force he bigger size in place - its risky to do so. One gauge at time :D

Second important rule - never stretch a piercing thats didnt fully healed. If the place is sore or still hurting, just wait with the stretching a little longer. Listening to what your body tells you is key!

Best materials for stretching are [in my case] implant grade stainless steel. You can also use single flare glass plugs, but stay away from silicone, plastic or acrylic, its not quite sanitary to use them as they usually  harbor bacteria, and its no good for fresh stretches

Tapers - we can call them stretching tools, that will help you get bigger jewelry into right place. Use them as to insert the jewelry but you shouldn't wear them as piece of jewelry themselves

ALWAYS lubricate the area. Stretching dry piercing is super painful [telling you from my experience,it was worst decision i could ever make when it came to stretching]
I use water-based lubricant, but natural oil also works well <3

NEVER try to push a jewelry too thick into the piercing - it can lead to tearing, irritation or infection [and believe me you dont want any of those]

Thats it for the guide i reckon :3 I will try to make a whole guide and post about tunnels and stretching other piercings [like septum] If you have any questions, leave a  comment or dm me
