Blog about Peter Steele

The Beginning

Well, I met Peter in 2023. I liked the band Type O Negative, but lately I've been studying his life, and every time I discover something about him, I identify with him. His acidic humor, making satires against rules, politics, and historical events is what makes me feel more and more connected to his projects and his life.
I'm the youngest of 5 siblings (like Peter), but my sisters lived with my grandparents throughout my childhood, so most of my life I lived with male representations.
Like Peter, who was born into a home with 6 women (his sisters and his mother) and with visits from his aunts, which made him have a great love for women. In every song, he doesn't talk about the carnal desire for a female image, but rather talks about his suffering, feelings, and happiness. I feel extremely welcomed.

Mental health

What makes me feel most represented in Peter is his mental health issues. The issue of social anxiety and depression always gets to me a lot. When Peter had relapses, he would run to alcohol, always before and during a show he would drink several doses of alcohol to try to cope. I feel extremely represented (unfortunately). But I always think it's cool to take that pain of his, which I identify with so much, and transform it into a form of representation of how "you can do it".
I'm grateful to have known him, I see myself in him. As if I were his female version.Β

Your compositions

I really like the feelings, jokes, joys, sadness, and sensuality in his music. The songs I identify with the most are: "Everyone I Love Is Dead," "Everything Dies," "I Don't Wanna Be Me," "In Praise of Bacchus," and "Anasthesia," which talk about his addictions, relationships, his past, and problemsΒ
