When you try your best but you dont succeed (I failed my 2025 goals, but thats ok)

Hello and welcome back!

I want to start this by saying I only truly succeeded in one thing this year, and that was making my average screentime from ~6 hours a day on my phone to now being 2-3 hours. Making my screentime go down by more than half is wonderful. I wanted to start with that because I think it brings up something very important.

For the past 2-3 years, I have had a love/hate relationship with my phone. I knew it wasnt good for me, I hated social media, and yet it felt like it was mandatory to stay. This year's goals were all about becoming more mindful in my life, like reading 25 books, exercising 3 times a week, journaling every day, and giving myself other things to do other than be on my phone. Well, I failed. I didn't read 25 books, I don't even know if I've read more than 5, I very much don't exercise every week, and I only journal at random spurts. I would be seen as failing my goals, right? Well, I wouldn't fully say that. Remember what I said at the top of the page? That my screentime went down by half? All of that extra time I've been using to be more present in my life. I am not constantly looking at my phone at work or at school, I have 0 social media on it other than spacehey, so I can write blogs LMAO. I want to stress that it's no little feat. Now that I know how life can be, and I know I don't need my little brick in my face to be happy, I can finally work on my goals of hobbies and stuff. I am realising something. Things I've tried were always unsustainable because I didn't take my time to do so. I did need a whole year to break my phone addiction (which included things like a YouTube addiction, which I've found my solutions for), and that's ok. Now I can work on my other goals this 2026 and beyond, cause I have the proper framework to do so.
