Listening to Apple Music on Windows is near impossible

at this point, i just wonder how something so easy can be completely screwed up. i LOVE apple music because the quality is great, the song availability is like slightly higher than spotify, among other things. and considering that apple music's library seems to even slightly based on the itunes library, which does open you open to more songs you wouldn't otherwise hear... at least i think?

but then the app for windows is built like total shit. i always hated itunes on windows, it inconsistently detects apple devices, the drivers for iphones are horrible, etc. and then apple music for windows comes along and bam! after four or five months of working just fine, the app maxes out the cpu and starts freezing with no hopes of navigating anything. on top of that, nearly every alternative app sucks. if the fact that you shouldn't need an alternative app for a fucking platform doesn't enough nail home the point: cider costs money and is more unoptimized than spotify somehow, ampcast sometimes doesn't play the song at all... you can download the music, sure, but good luck on the write life on your ssd + your storage space for that! not to mention if god forgive, all you wanted to do was download like a single fucking album to try.

not to mention every alternative app under the sun doesn't at all play lossless audio. you know, the original fucking selling point for apple music? and don't get me started on the fact that you shouldn't have to use an alternative app in the first place..??? where are y'alls heads at? genuinely

the fact that spotify, a platform KNOWN for using ai, ripping off artists etc is a MILES better experience for the fact that they only recently added lossless audio, have allegedly begun using ai in wrapped, has a free tier with obnoxious ads, known for trying to heavily crack down against adblock on mobile... does it need to be explained how spotify + free tier + adblock on pc shouldn't be a better experience on windows than a fucking subscription you're paying for? are we fucking serious right now, are we on the same page?

this shit pisses me off so much because it's MIND BLOWING how hard a simple task is. the ONLY way to listen to the lossless audio on windows that is actually stable, that i know of, is to install WINDOWS SUBSYSTEM FOR LINUX, perform twelve thousand steps and THEN you download the album you want with terminal and enjoy then..? do i look like i want to do that every time i want to try an album i might not even like?
