The Riders In The Sky

The Riders in The Sky is a Western Swing Band made up of a Country Music Historian, A Wildlife Manager, an incredible Musical Producer and a man with a PhD in Theoretical Plasma Physics from MIT, that emulates the Old Western Musicals vibes with a lot of comedy and trope parodies. They are mostly famous for performing the "Woody's Round-up Theme" from Toy Story 2 along with entire two albums based on both Toy Story 2 and Monsters Inc. They are also less famously known for their appearance on the Barney & Friends Episode 09 from Season 5 "Howdy, Friends!".

They have made their 8,000th performance and celebrated their 43th anniversary as a band this year. They have over 40 albums, an old radio show, about 4 LOST MEDIA specials based on that radio show and an ALSO partially lost Anthology TV series, plus, a troubled and cancelled Kids' Show on CBS with questionable acting and directing, which they had NO control of. (L behaviour from CBS, they did the Riders and Weird Al so dirty).

Wold Building and Characters

Y'know, Their fictional universe is well established and consistent, their whole aesthetic is well-maintained and the story has evolved throughout the years. Their music is adorably fun and really puts you into the world they've created, based on the already existing Silver Screen Singing Cowboys phenomenon like Roy Rogers and Gene Autry. It's Singing Six Guns! The characters have so much dynamic in everything they do, there's so much to be explored! They have so much chemistry and it's so clear that they are, most of all, having so much fun! It has never failed to made me smile (or cry).

They live in Tumbleweed Valley, currently in Harmony Ranch. They used to live in Triple X Ranch. (It's mostly treated like a simple rename but it was announced as them moving out).

Ranger Doug is your typical Hero, afraid of nothing, always does the right thing, has incredible Midi-Chlorian powers in his Yodels and has a vintage charm in his smile. Woody Paul is a little slow, but can do precise physics and mathematics calculation mentally in seconds. Too Slim is, most of the time, the main comical relief and can serve as a perfect leader if Ranger Doug isn't in the scene, We also have Joey The Cowpolka King, but he wasn't introduced as part of the main cast until later on. In the start he was a silent character who would only "talk" through his accordion unless it was deemed necessary for him to speak up.

There's the supporting characters like their terrible Trail-cook but loyal to death, Sidemeat. There's Miss Marm, an adorable and strong schoolmarm, There's Drywall Paul who is the sheriff and has the dream of being a big star, he's sort of an Elvis Impersonator wannabe. Sargent Dudley, Ranger Doug's Canadian Cousin. The Antagonists and straight-up Villains like the criminal master mind, and owner of the Dry Gulch Saloon, Slocum and his henchman, Charlie. Or their Boss, Mr. Bigs. There's also the CREEPY Too Jaws, in life, he was "the fourth of fifth smartest horse in the movies" during his days as a professional animal actor.

THAT'S A LOT OF CHARACTERS!!!

I suppose their lack of "fame" and recognition comes from the very specific niche Cowboy aesthetic and musical genre. I mean, not even the fans of cowboy western media i see online don't interact with anything like The Riders. They've collaborated with DISNEY PIXAR in literal TOY STORY when it was at it's PEAK and they DO NOT have a present online cult following? Well, then i suppose they never will!!!

Harmful stereotypes?

There's also the ever changing culture and harmful stereotypes that often would show up in old Cowboy Media. I'm not saying that they have anything TERRIBLY HARMFUL on their incredible catalogue and discography, at least not one that is entirely their fault (E.g: CBS series "little princess" native stereotype character that they would later criticise in their Radio Show, also saying that "it was cancelled for the best!")

There's more that could be discussed on this topic. I have to tell you, though; They've made the right choices in changes throughout the years! And it's very apparent that they are all the nicest of people and there's really nothing to worry about when listening to them.

Loneliness In The Fandom's Prairie

I'VE BEEN SEARCHING FOR FANS OF THIS FOR
AROUND 2-3 YEARS NOW AND I'M ALONE, OKAY?

It's me and a Archiver YouTube Channel called Mike Rotch (lol) against the world. I've tried just about every social media possible and i haven't found another peer with this same interest and intensity, which is a BIG problem for me.

I'm a fanartist, i'm a fanfic reader, I'm a scenario maker, I'm a Self-inserter, I'm a collector.
I WANT TO INTERACT. I want to gather information, i wan to repost edits, i want to talk about this universe with other people, i wanna see what their OCs would be like, what role they would fill, but i CAN'T, because they DON'T EXIST!

I post fanart on my Instagram but that's all i can do, to my knowledge. I've already consumed every piece of media of them online, i have nothing else to do. I blame their social media presence a bit, not gonna lie. They don't interact with their fans online, and most of them are middle-aged to older! There isn't exactly a Riders Community or anything like that, It's all physical, which is great for whoever lives in the USA but i'm in BRAZIL.

I might never see them in real life, that actually scares me.

Conclusion.

Let's be friends, please. If you know Riders in The Sky, if you WANT to know them, if you're in ANYWAY interested in it, PLEASE message me. Add me on Instagram to support my lonely Cowpoke, in-universe, Art, Comment, IDK. I'm actually desperate.

It's weird, i really want to build a community for them, but i have ZERO reach. I guess people don't care for western swing, Funny characters, Big universes and fandom community or something. I'm like a free advertisement that they don't know the existence of.

I kinda doubt this will get to anybody, but if it did and you've read to the end, i'm VERY grateful! Thank you so much for your attention! It means a LOT that you've read all of this!

THANK YOU!!!

THE END.
