Just got back home and thought I'd do a quick blog rant about my experience with The Gym Group. It is a UK franchise and I don't wanna say exactly which location it was at so I dont doxx myself lmao. Bit of background info, I'm autistic and weightlifting is one of my special interests, and it helps as part of my weekly routine. Tried registering for a membership on the app but every time I went to approve the request in the bank app, it'd refresh and take me back to the home. Thought "fuck it, I'll do it in person". Went down, got everything set up, paid for a month's membership only for my pin to not activate. Like wtf?? Tried contacting customer support only to get an automated response. Even went down three times on different days to try and get a member of staff I could speak to in order to get everything working right (on the off chance I did fuck up somewhere) only to be stood about looking like an absolute prick while no one showed up.
Had enough so AGAIN I tried contacting customer support (finally got a person this time) only to hang up on me because I started stuttering and stumbling on my words, which happens sometimes especially when I get anxious. And they refused to pick up when I tried calling them back.
Cancelled my membership and attempted to get a refund back because as the website states, refunds are only applicable within the first 14 days of your membership. But guess what? Didn't get a fucking refund because apparently refund percentages are proportionate to how many times you've used the gym. Which for me is zero because I COULDN'T GET IN. So you'd think based off their logic, I'd get a full refund given that I haven't used a single one of their services yet but guess not.
tl;dr fuck the gym group, I'm going back to my old dusty ahh gym
