sixth song in the books

First off: Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!

Yesterday was another productive and fun rehearsal. Yes, fun. Amazing how that works out. Drummer Mike Sabatini and I did not rehearse last week because he was recording another band in his studio, totally cool. I got to hear some of the tracks from this band and they were pretty cool!

Anyway, we went over the five songs as we've been since October 1st (feels like eons ago). We did a sixth song two weeks back but both of us agreed that it didn't flow well, so I scrapped it. Instead I took one part of that song and melded it with two new parts (plus clean intro). Jammed it a few times and we agreed that it worked. So yay for song six!

Interesting how I can toss something out and still come up with new music. I am always coming up with ideas but someone should tie my hands behind my back!! 

This piece is interesting in that the intro is VERY Joe Satriani without even trying! I admit that the B section was me channeling some of Steve Vai's chord work in his early years but also has touches of Rush in it. Yet it still sounds like...me.

So that's six down, two more to go. And then a clean outro to close the album.

Wait, that's nine, right? Wasn't it going to be eight songs?

Well, yes, it's my album, and I'll do what I want ;)
